We are now looking for a secure, sensitive, and engaged personal assistant for an adult man living with a relative in Bollebygd.

The individual has autism and needs support in daily life from someone who has a good understanding of neuropsychiatric disabilities and can meet him with respect, patience, and mature handling. It is important to see the person behind the diagnosis and understand the importance of a calm, secure, and non-hierarchical interaction.

About the position

The work involves providing support both at home and in connection with day activities and other engagements. Needs vary, and days can look different depending on which projects and tasks are current.

The position covers support in all daily aspects of life and involves being part of what makes daily life function in a secure and structured way.

The position is a hourly-based employment with the possibility of long-term work for the right person.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include among other things:

• Structure and support regarding daily routines
• Practical support with cleaning, laundry, and tidiness at home
• Shopping for food and other daily errands
• Cooking and meal preparation when needed
• Participation in activities at and around the home
• Accompanying to day activities and other engagements
• Support in planning and carrying out various projects and interests
• Contribute to security, continuity, and functioning routines in daily life

The work largely means being a support in everything related to life and daily life, both practically and socially.

Interests

The individual has a great interest in practical projects, animals, gardening, dust, fish, pumps, fountains, and lighting. Previous experience from operations such as cleaning, horse farms, and municipal maintenance is also part of the background.

There is a dog in the home, so you need to be comfortable with dogs and not be allergic.

Important about the role

To create security and trust, continuity and presence are a very important part of the work. The individual builds relationships over time and needs to be able to rely on the assistant being present according to the agreed schedule and being a stable part of daily life for a longer period.

We are therefore looking for you who are in a life situation where you have good opportunities to prioritize work, work stably over time, and appreciate a job with high presence and continuity.

It is important to understand that the individual does not want to be treated like a child. Communication and handling need to be done with respect and tact. Some moments in daily life are sensitive and require a careful and indirect approach rather than instructions or demands.

You need to be able to guide without creating resistance, for example by motivating, distracting, or presenting alternatives in a natural way.

Experience and qualifications

We would like you to have:

• Experience working with people with autism or other neuropsychiatric disabilities
• Experience within personal assistance, care, or similar work
• Education in care, social work, or pedagogy is meritorious
• Good cooperation skills and personal maturity

Personal suitability, handling, and the ability to create security will weigh very heavily in the recruitment.
