The Department of Environmental Sciences (ACES) is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science. The department consists of four units with approximately 170 employed researchers, teachers, doctoral students, and technical/administrative staff. The research spans environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, atmospheric science, and biogeochemistry, maintaining a high international level with a focus on current environmental and sustainability challenges. Job Description

We are looking for a person who wants to work with us on a project aimed at developing and applying automated image-based methods to study how environmental chemicals affect cellular processes in aquatic organisms. The project uses Daphnia magna as a model organism and focuses on measuring effects using fluorescence-based dyes and confocal microscopy in multi-well platforms.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a master's degree (or equivalent) in environmental science, toxicology, biology, biomedicine, or a similar field. You must have documented experience in laboratory work with biological organisms as well as experience in experimental studies within toxicology, cell biology, or physiology. Experience with fluorescence-based methods, microscopy, and work with aquatic model organisms is required. Experience with quantitative data analysis in R or Python is desirable. It is also desirable if you have worked with image analysis and automated microscopy. Knowledge of the effects of environmental chemicals on cellular functions is also desirable.

About the Position

The position is full-time for seven months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
