The Psychosis Area in Malmö aims to provide effective psychosis care with respectful treatment to enable a good life. Our mandate within outpatient and inpatient care is to assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients with diagnoses of schizophrenia, delusional symptoms, schizoaffective syndrome, and all conditions where psychosis development is suspected. We offer psychiatric interventions for individuals with psychosis issues and take a holistic view of mental ill health based on a combination of medical, psychological, and social interventions. The Psychosis Area consists of four outpatient clinics and three units providing inpatient care. Ward 87 is an inpatient ward with 14 beds for patients with psychotic illness and disabilities, as well as first-episode psychosis.

We are transitioning to the title 'Nurse Assistant' (Undersköterska) and will gradually phase out the title 'Care Assistant' (Skötare) across all our psychiatric operations. This work began on November 1, 2023. Changing the title will not change the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for continued competence development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.

We are looking for you who are educated as a Nurse Assistant (Undersköterska) and have applied for/received proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen).

Job Responsibilities

We now welcome a Care Assistant/Nurse Assistant in psychiatry to us at Ward 87!

In your role, you work closely with the patient on various nursing tasks. Your assignment includes participating in the routines regarding nursing, conversation, and support for the patients. We also conduct home visits, study visits, and assist with matters that are important to the patient. As a contact person, you participate in the planning regarding the patient's care and discharge, which implies cooperation with outpatient care and the municipality. Journal documentation is done in the data system Melior according to the VIPS model.

We work according to a schedule where working hours are assigned to day, evening, and every other weekend.

Qualifications

You who apply are educated as a Nurse Assistant (Undersköterska) through the upper secondary school's Care and Nursing program (3 years, 2500 credits), the Care and Nursing program, Komvux, three terms (minimum 1350 credits), or another equivalent Nurse Assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. In addition to education, we would like you to have experience working as a Care Assistant and/or Nurse Assistant. It is meritorious if you have experience working in psychiatry and/or with patients with mental ill health. Good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are seen as meritorious.

Attach the Nurse Assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have managed to get it, or your degree certificate to the application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (Omvårdnadsassistent psykiatri) pending.

You have a genuine interest in psychiatric nursing and always put the patient in focus. As a person, you are secure and stable, as it is important that you can maintain calm and have a low-affective approach in stressful situations. With a high sense of service and responsibility, as well as good cooperation skills, you meet the situation the patient and their relatives are facing humbly. You have good prioritization skills and also contribute to a good work environment. We are keen on finding the right person and therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Psychiatry, habilitation, and assistive devices is the third largest administration with operations throughout Skåne. We have a broad mandate where many different competencies together give our patients the best care and nursing. With curiosity and great interest, we also invest in development and research.

The mandate within psychiatry is to provide specialized care in publicly driven child, adult, and forensic psychiatry. The habilitation provides habilitation and rehabilitation within publicly driven child, youth, and adult habilitation. Assistive devices have the mandate to handle assistive devices prescribed to patients in Skåne. Within the administration, there are also vision, hearing, and deaf services and youth clinics in Skåne.
