About the School

Sjöparksskolan is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the town center, located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements of a secondary school and features a modern design. The school works actively to create good learning environments, promote collegial learning, and develop sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school has school nurses and school counselors on site. There are also special education teachers, social pedagogues, and study and career counselors. Two key pedagogues work on developing the school's digital competence, and caretakers are available to cover short-term absences. Lead teachers work on the development of subject areas. The school is divided into three work teams, each led by a team leader. New and non-certified staff are mentored by experienced and certified colleagues, both during induction and in ongoing daily teaching. The school offers opportunities for students with special needs to work in smaller teaching groups. A preparatory class for newly arrived students is also available.

Job Responsibilities

You will work with a small group of students who require extra support. You will teach in several subjects and participate in the school's work teams. You may also be assigned as a mentor for students.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher in one of the core subjects. You should be responsible, clear, and driven, with the ability to build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Commitment, solution-oriented mindset, innovation, and the interest and ability to collaborate are qualities that the school values. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Under the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative authority for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, permanent position. Probation period may apply.
