We are currently looking for an interior church caretaker for Tunafors Parish, part of the Eskilstuna Pastorate. The position is fixed-term for 1 year and involves 50% employment.

Tunafors Parish is part of the Eskilstuna Pastorate, which consists of four parishes, two preschools, and a funeral service. There is also extensive support services here that create good conditions for the parishes to focus on their core activities. In Tunafors Parish, there are two churches as well as the Hospital Church at Mälarsjukhuset.

Job Description

In the role of interior church caretaker, you are an important part of creating a welcoming and pleasant environment for those who visit the church.

You are part of the parish's work team and collaborate with other caretakers, priests, deacons, musicians, educators, and hostesses. You have a number of varied tasks, including:

• Responsibility for the church premises being in good condition and perceived as inviting to visitors. This includes local maintenance and care of indoor environments, furnishings, and textiles.
• Being the church's face outward in meetings with people at different stages of life and meeting everyone in a professional and secure manner.
• Work during services and church ceremonies (baptisms, weddings, funerals) where you are responsible for preparation before and after.
• Duty during concerts and other events in the church.
• Responsibility for practical and technical tasks such as sound, light, and digital technology during services and events.
• Collaboration with other functions within the pastorate, for example, the property department.
• Posting of posters, collection handling, and some administrative tasks.

The work is varied and can at times be physically demanding and involve heavy lifting.

The main location for the position is Fors Church, but work may occur throughout the pastorate.

You work according to a scheduled time, including both day, evening, and weekend duties.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Upper secondary education or other education assessed as equivalent.
• Current experience in a service-oriented profession and/or work with people.
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as the work involves many contacts.
• Membership in the Church of Sweden and shares the Church of Sweden's values.
• Basic computer skills and technical abilities as it is part of the job to be responsible for technical tasks.

It is an advantage if you have professional experience and/or education in, for example, maintenance and operation work in indoor environments, church caretaker role, local maintenance, or work with cultural-historical objects, or other experience that the employer deems relevant.

Previous experience working in a parish within the Church of Sweden is also positive.
