About the workplace

Solbackeskolan is a multicultural school where all students are given the opportunity to develop good knowledge and social maturity. Approximately 220 students attend the school, from preschool class up to grade 6. Solbackeskolan offers both regular primary school and adapted primary school education. Our after-school care (fritids) is divided into two groups by age, where students from both the regular and adapted primary schools attend together.

At Solbackeskolan, we have good collaboration between the regular and adapted primary schools to find methods that develop each student in the best possible way. At our school, we actively work with language development and motor skills.

We believe that values-based work, interaction, and approach are important. Over the past few school years, we have prioritized this area for all staff at the school. In this improvement work, we collaborate with Närhälsan and follow a model called PALS. PALS is an evidence-based school model that systematically and strategically works with school staff's approach and interaction to reduce behavioral problems in schools and increase students' academic performance. Through positive behavioral support, a good learning environment and good relationships between staff and students are created. We work hard to get more students moving! In August 2018, we started The Daily Mile, as the first school in Sweden. Simply put, this means we move for an "extra" 15 minutes every day. We work to ensure students are physically active during outdoor play and have a recess pedagog who drives this work. We collaborate with sports clubs that, for example, offer activities at the school at the end of the school day/during after-school hours.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of School Support Pedagogue, you will contribute specialized competence regarding the needs of the students and the operations.

You will support colleagues in methods and interaction based on the needs of the students and the operations. As a School Support Pedagogue, you will also support the teacher in adapting, making accessible, and contributing to teaching throughout the entire school day. This may involve practically preparing lessons, individually conducting lesson segments, and supporting in social situations. You will act as a link to both guardians and school health professionals, as well as between teachers and teaching assistants, communicating with them based on the student's needs.

During the school day, you will work in preschool class or in adapted primary school, with responsibility for one to several students who need extra support. In the afternoon, you work in one of our after-school care departments and share responsibility for the group and its needs.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Have post-secondary education with a focus on pedagogy, for example, pedagogical vocational packages (teacher assistant education or equivalent at folk high school or university college), activating pedagogue, social pedagogue, or support pedagogue.
• Are well-versed in the steering documents for primary school.
• Have knowledge of/experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD), and intellectual disability (ID).
• Have knowledge and experience with digital documentation.
• Have good ability to lead adults.
• Have experience working with students in need of special support in adapted primary school.

As a person, you are calm, stable, and receptive, and have the ability to create a safe environment for all students where the children's development and learning are in focus.

To succeed in your assignment, it is important that you have a good ability to apply your competence so that learning takes place, both among students and colleagues. With your in-depth knowledge of student needs and operational challenges, you contribute a holistic perspective.

You have good communicative skills to explain problems and information to different recipients and from different perspectives. You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement. You keep yourself updated through environmental scanning and you regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations.
