At the Swedish Inspectorate of Health and Care (IVO), you will help develop state supervision and licensing procedures – work that contributes to safer and more secure health and care services. We are now looking for an inspector with legal expertise for our office in Malmö.

About the job

As an inspector, you will investigate and assess the professional practice of licensed health and care personnel based on current regulations.

Your main tasks as an inspector will include:

  • Investigating cases concerning the professional practice of licensed health and care personnel, for example related to illness (e.g., addiction), competence, prescription of medication, care and treatment, or record keeping
  • Reviewing patient records, prescriptions, and other relevant documentation
  • Conducting conversations and meetings with individual professionals under IVO's supervision
  • Serving as the lead case handler in some cases and a co-handler in others, depending on the scope and nature of the cases
  • Working in close collaboration with colleagues nationwide, including inspectors from various professions as well as supervising dentists and physicians
  • Contributing to cross-professional assessments and joint positions
  • Preparing decisions in cases and submitting reports to the Health and Care Responsibility Board (HSAN)

The positions are permanent with a six-month probationary period, located in Malmö.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A law degree
  • At least two years of current and relevant work experience from the public sector
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

The role demands objectivity, high integrity, sound judgment, and analytical skills to make well-founded and legally secure assessments. Success in this role requires strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute your professional perspective in cross-professional contexts. You must feel confident in your competence and be able to work independently, driving cases forward with clear structure and accountability for progress. We continuously develop our methods and working practices, meaning you must be adaptable and able to adjust to new conditions.

During the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

The following qualifications are considered meritorious:

  • Experience from the court system, such as clerkship or work as a reporting lawyer
  • Experience in supervisory work
  • Experience working in decision-making or decision-preparing roles
  • Experience working within IVO's areas of supervision: health and care.
