About the Position

The Adapted School in Ulricehamn Municipality, which is part of the Tingsholm school district, offers education to students with intellectual disabilities, carefully tailored to each student's individual prerequisites – from primary school to upper secondary and adult levels. The activity is based on the same structure as primary school while also covering special subject areas that promote students' motor skills, communication, daily activities, aesthetic development, and perception of reality. Here, every student has the opportunity to develop in a secure learning environment where participation, learning, and hope for the future are central.

Job Responsibilities

As a teacher with a focus on leisure centers (fritidshem) with us, you will have a central role in planning, leading, and implementing the pedagogical activities for our students when they are at the leisure center. You create conditions for security, development, and meaningful leisure time through pedagogical learning that is based on the students' needs, interests, and experiences. You collaborate closely with other pedagogues to ensure that the students' learning, participation, and influence are strengthened - both in the leisure center's activities and in the school as a whole. Collaboration with the school's other pedagogues is a given to create a holistic view of the students' development. You may also work part of your working hours in the school, for example as a resource pedagogue or in subjects such as sports.

Your responsibilities:

• Plan and implement pedagogical activities in the leisure center.
• Collaborate with teachers and student health services to support students' learning and development.
• Work for good quality, participation, and security in the activities.
• Support students in transitions between the leisure center and school.
• In some parts of the position, also work in the classroom or as a resource pedagogue.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who are a trained teacher with a focus on leisure centers, preferably with additional education in sports or other subjects. You have good knowledge of the mission in the unified curriculum and are well-versed in the current mission of the leisure center. You feel confident in your professional role and are familiar with the regulatory documents that guide the activity.

It is an advantage if you have experience and competence in the area of disabilities and have previously worked in adapted primary school. Knowledge or education in low-affective handling and alternative communication (AKK) is also seen as an asset.

As a person, you are independent, flexible, and have a professional approach towards students, guardians, colleagues, and others you meet in your professional role. You are receptive, creative, and quality-conscious, and you work in a structured and systematic manner in close collaboration with the manager and colleagues. Since the collaboration between the leisure center and school is a central part of the mission, good teamwork skills and clear, secure communication are required.
