Adapted School in Ulricehamn

The Adapted School in Ulricehamn Municipality, part of the Tingsholm school district, offers education to students with intellectual disabilities, carefully tailored to each student's individual prerequisites – from primary school to upper secondary and adult levels. The operations are based on the same structure as the regular primary school, while also covering special subject areas that promote students' motor skills, communication, daily activities, aesthetic development, and perception of reality. Here, every student has the opportunity to develop in a safe learning environment where participation, learning, and hope for the future are central.

Job Responsibilities

Your task is to teach students following the adapted curriculum for primary school in subjects for grades 1-9. You plan and conduct teaching based on each student's abilities, create good conditions for learning, and stimulate and challenge students' development and learning. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that students receive the pedagogical and social support they need to develop and reach their goals. Your role may occasionally include tasks that would otherwise fall to student assistants, to support students in daily and social situations where needed. You also contribute to the overall pedagogical development work and collaborate closely with lead teachers, principals, and other educators to strengthen the quality of teaching and create a cohesive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher. It is a requirement that you have previous experience working within adapted primary school. It is meritorious if you are educated as a special needs teacher/special pedagogue with a focus on intellectual disabilities, and if you have knowledge of alternative communication. It is also meritorious if you have knowledge and experience working with students with intellectual as well as neuropsychiatric disabilities such as ADHD and autism.

You need to be secure and stable in your professional role, especially in pressured situations. Clear communication and a calm approach are important, as is your good empathetic ability. You work with a structured approach focused on learning, are flexible, and have good collaboration skills. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
