About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

The Luleå Business Area is the northernmost part of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and includes the Luleå and Haparanda prisons as well as the Luleå remand prison. The largest professional group is prison officers, but healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others also work here. At the prisons, inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or the prisons' wood production. You can easily reach the prison and Luleå remand prison by public transport; if you drive, you can park in our staff parking lot. The Haparanda prison is a five-minute walk from Haparanda station.

Job Description

As a Program Leader, you will be part of a team working with clients in probation and prison. As an important part of the work to prevent recidivism, the Sundsvall Probation Service conducts extensive program activities for supervised clients, both in groups and individually.

The treatment programs are conducted with high quality and according to the principles of evidence-based practice. They are primarily based on cognitive behavioral therapy and social learning theory. We use programs against crime, violence, substance abuse, as well as sexual and domestic violence. The assignment is carried out by a very dedicated Program team with specific program leadership competence. The combined program offering means that you will simultaneously lead several different programs, preferably in groups in probation and prison.

The role of Program Leader involves largely conducting programs as well as some administration. You are expected to complete the program leader training included in the assignment as well as the probation service's basic training. It is important to work actively to foster good cooperation with other program leaders as well as with other colleagues at the prisons and probation service.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• An academic degree (minimum bachelor's level) with a behavioral science focus, preferably as a behavioral scientist, social worker, criminologist, or within social sciences
• Category B driver's license
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing

The following are also meritorious:

• The Swedish Prison and Probation Service's Program Leader Training
• Other treatment-oriented training that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Client-facing work experience within social work
• Experience in treatment-oriented work
• Experience in client-facing group work
• Good experience working with proven treatment methods, with a focus on CBT
• Language skills in addition to Swedish
