About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.
Description
The Mariestad operational area includes the closed prison Johannesberg, the largest open prison in the country, Rödjan, and the Mariestad Remand Prison. Mariestad currently has approximately 360 employees distributed across various professional categories and competencies. Construction of a new closed prison is underway and is planned to be operational by 2027. There are also plans to open a new remand prison in Skövde.
Job Responsibilities
As a Client Officer at Johannesberg Prison, you are responsible for the overall client work under the supervision of the Prison Officer Inspector. This includes ensuring and quality-assuring the legal process, monitoring the execution of sentences for inmates, permission planning, handling the legal client process, managing cases of misconduct, and more. You make assessments based on current regulations and guidelines and make decisions according to delegation. Other administrative tasks may also occur.
The role involves developing and quality-assuring legal care work in dialogue with your manager. You will supervise other staff in client work and the various processes within legal care and execution planning.
You work in a team of client officers at the prison and collaborate with other employees on-site as well as colleagues and managers at other prisons. A key part of the job is also collaboration with other actors, both internally and externally, such as Social Services and other authorities.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who works well with others and adapts their way of communicating their message depending on the recipient. You have the ability to remain calm and controlled even in pressured and stressful situations. You must be able to handle large amounts of information and act with good judgment in all situations. In your work, you plan, organize, and prioritize your tasks efficiently. Furthermore, you should be accommodating in your interactions and have both the interest, willingness, and ability to help others.

We are looking for someone who has:
- A university or college education with a legal, behavioral science, or social work focus, or alternatively other education combined with experience that the employer deems relevant
- Good teamwork skills
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
It is an advantage if you have:
- Experience in supervising staff
- Completed Prison and Probation Service training
- Experience in exercising public authority
- Experience in investigation and/or handling within the prison and probation service
- Knowledge of and experience working with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's client administrative systems
- Good knowledge of administrative law
