Specialist Psychiatry for Children, Youth, and Adults provides knowledge-based and specialized psychiatric care in collaboration with the patient, relatives, and other healthcare providers within and outside Region Kronoberg. A good work environment with motivated and competent employees is a prerequisite for us to succeed in our mission. The operations are organized into different units where staff work based on integrated teams, outpatient care, and inpatient care, following the patient throughout the entire care chain. Our mission is to provide specialist psychiatry for patients with severe mental illness, complex problems, and often comorbidity. We want to create good conditions for our patients to receive effective treatment with the best possible competence, leading to improvements for the patient.
The Geriatric Psychiatry Unit
The Geriatric Psychiatry Unit offers psychiatric specialist care to people over 70 years old and consists of a ward for psychiatric inpatient care, a clinic, and outpatient care. The target group includes those newly diagnosed with mental illness and in need of specialist care, multi-morbid elderly where mental ill-health is included, and persons with suspected dementia or severe behavioral disorders who are in need of assessment. The ward has a total of 8 care beds in new and fresh premises, and the building features generous staff areas, a cafeteria, and a staff gym. The unit has close cooperation with care partners such as municipal care, county healthcare, and primary care. Our way of working is permeated by person-centered nursing where care assistants, nurses, psychologists, and doctors work in teams together with the patient and relatives. The unit also has special ambassadors with specialized competence in the area of elderly with mental ill-health. The workplace is characterized by a fine atmosphere and a good cooperative climate.

1 position(s).
Job Responsibilities
As a nurse with us, you work from a holistic perspective with both psychiatric and somatic care. We work in teams around the patient, and as a nurse, you have the overall responsibility for the patient's nursing care. Your tasks include routine medication and ward rounds, as well as sampling, assessments, and supportive conversations. In addition, this includes participation in team meetings, memory investigations, treatment planning, and cooperation with the unit's clinic and outpatient care. After a while, you will also be given the opportunity to gain broader knowledge within psychiatry through an introduction at one of our nearby wards. There is also the possibility to combine the position with partially working with ECT at the clinic's treatment department.
Decision-making paths are short, and you have good opportunities to influence and develop your work, as well as the work in general at the unit and at the clinic.
If you have clinical experience as a nurse for at least 1 year, you are given the opportunity to apply for paid further education to become a specialist nurse in psychiatric care.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and welcome both experienced and newly graduated applicants. Experience of working within psychiatry and/or psychiatric care is meritorious, but not a requirement. Regardless of background, we offer a solid and individually tailored introduction.
To thrive with us, you possess good cooperative skills, are secure in your decision-making, and have good empathetic ability. In the meeting with our patients and their relatives, your personal approach and ability to put yourself in others' situations, feelings, and experiences are important. You also have readiness for action and the ability to adapt based on how the situation looks. Therefore, great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
