Description
The Urban Environment Administration has overall responsibility for the city's public spaces and collective accessibility. We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg.
The Urban Environment Administration is part of the city development administrations in Gothenburg Municipality. Together, we work to create conditions for functioning infrastructure, high-quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and to ensure the city becomes sustainable from all perspectives.
Job Responsibilities
Do you want to help develop a operation that keeps the city clean, safe, and accessible – year-round?
The Waste Management Winter business area is responsible for cleaning the city's public spaces as well as winter road maintenance. Within the Machine and Events unit, we handle machine sweeping of squares, schools, streets, and bike paths in-house. During the season, we are also responsible for evening and event cleaning. The work takes place during daytime, evenings, weekends, and nighttime. The unit is also responsible for the department's wash hall and waste station.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Support the unit manager in daily operations and in monitoring the operation's results.
- Plan and develop work together with the work group and coordinators.
- Handle additional assignments and contracts and ensure they are followed up according to agreements.
- Participate in operational meetings and represent the unit in internal and external contexts.
- Follow up on annual assignments, ensure quality of deliveries, and handle invoicing.
- Conduct own controls of areas and assignments together with coordinators.
- Participate in procurement and work on improvements of vehicles, machines, and buildings.
- You have insight into practical work and are willing to be out in the field to follow up, support, and create a good picture of daily operations.
- Plan and monitor the truck's operation and economy.
You are a person who thrives in an operational role where you get to combine planning, problem-solving, and close collaboration with both colleagues and external actors. You are structured, communicative, and confident in making decisions in everyday life.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- Completed upper secondary education.
- Category B driver's license.
- Good experience working in administrative systems and digital tools.
- Experience in production planning.
- Experience in scheduling and resource optimization.
- Ability to plan operations based on seasonal variations.
- Ability to plan based on events and urgent operational needs.
- Experience coordinating machines, personnel, and external contractors.
- Experience in maintenance planning for machines and vehicles.
- Ability to assess the need for service and repair.
- Ability to assess investment needs for machines and vehicles.
- Experience with invoice review.
- Experience with ordering routines.
- You master Swedish in both speech and writing.
A Category C driver's license and a valid certificate of professional competence are meritorious for the position. It is also an advantage if you have knowledge of maintenance systems, vehicle maintenance, and experience with waste management and building-related issues.
You need to have good driving skills and feel confident driving vehicles both in central parts of Gothenburg and in narrow or restricted spaces. To thrive in the role, we see that you are meticulous, responsible, and capable of independently planning and executing your tasks.
You collaborate well with others, have a good attitude, and contribute to Gothenburg residents and visitors having a positive experience. Previous experience from similar tasks or positions is considered meritorious.
A standby schedule during the winter season may be included in the position.
