We are looking for two male assistants with a genuine interest in music, who want to support a young man with multiple disabilities. You need to be patient and pedagogical, able to step back when necessary and be motivating at other times.

The user is in a wheelchair and needs assistance with transfers, so you should be of average height, healthy, and strong. He needs help with eating, dressing, and intimate hygiene. From June to August, we visit the outdoor pool at Lilla Amundön as often as possible. We are only seeking male assistants so that changing can take place in the men's changing room.

His thirst for knowledge means you are expected to look up facts and hold lessons that end with helping him write a short text in Swedish and/or English. You need to be confident in these languages, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of other languages is a bonus. His musical knowledge is surprisingly extensive, and it is an area where he wants to develop further. All of this requires the ability to communicate in an unusually sensitive way. It is not easy, but when it works, both the assistant and the user are satisfied with the day.

The shifts are 8–9 hours long. Day, evening, and weekend shifts are included. You work alone for half of the shift and double assistance is provided for swimming during the other half. This makes the work varied and allows you to get to know your colleagues.

The job suits someone who wants meaningful work where they can make a difference. It could be someone who has not yet decided on their education and is reading up on grades, or a cultural worker, preferably a musician, who needs a basic income. It also suits a teaching assistant who wants to work in a more structured one-on-one setting.

Position 1 is approximately 70% during weeks 23–34, and Position 2 is approximately 70% during weeks 26–34.

Both positions start as hourly contracts with the possibility of transitioning into a summer temporary position. There may also be an opportunity to continue as a part-time employee as long as the assistance assignment lasts.

GIL has coordinated personal assistance since 1989. For us, personal assistance is about creating conditions for a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. In many assignments, the person entitled to assistance is the employer themselves, while in others, a deputy employer has been appointed. Assignments and roles vary depending on the operation and function.

GIL's office provides support in areas such as management, administration, finance, HR, and education. Together, we contribute to making everyday life work for both those entitled to assistance and employees within the cooperative.

To attract and retain secure and engaged employees, GIL invests in education and joint activities.

• GIL's assistants have a collective agreement with Fremia–Kommunal

• Wellness allowance of up to 2,500 SEK/year

• Individual salary setting

• Extract from the police criminal record must be shown upon employment

Please submit your application as soon as possible, as selection is ongoing.
