About the Operations

Strömslundsskolan is located on the west side of the river in Trollhättan. Our operations include students from preschool class to grade 9, as well as an after-school center. We are a receiving school within the framework of equal education. The school has a high proportion of experienced and certified teachers. Our students feel safe at school and achieve good academic results. The school is characterized by good collaboration among colleagues and a good work environment.

About the Positions

The school is in need of student support staff. One of the positions is a full-time permanent position which includes bus escort duties (see below), and two part-time (80%) fixed-term positions with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

As the school has an increased need regarding students, we are now seeking reinforcement in the form of student support staff for students who are in need of extra ordinary special support. These students have different support needs but require support in the form of a person who can develop the learning environment and support the student in their learning, working for the student's best interest in relation to themselves and in interaction with peers and other adults.

We see that through your solid knowledge of what facilitates learning, you contribute with support and solutions regarding clarifications, aids, and structure in the physical and psychosocial environment, for all students but specifically for students with functional variations.

The responsibilities include both work with individual students and students in smaller groups. You will be involved in planning, implementing, documenting, and following up on the pedagogical activities together with the team, where teachers have the ultimate responsibility for the teaching. You enjoy and are good at working with others but can also take responsibility on your own and should be a good adult role model in everything you do. One of the positions may involve bus escort duties, which means traveling with students to and from school in scheduled school bus traffic.

Qualifications

For this position, the following are required:

• Education as a student assistant, support pedagogue, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• Knowledge of different functional variations and how they affect learning for an individual student, as well as what this may imply in relation to the surroundings and environment.
• Knowledge of low-affective handling and clarifying pedagogy in both theory and practice.
• Task awareness where the goal is always for each student to reach as far as possible in their learning.
• That you are responsible and work well in a team but also independently.
• That you can provide good references from previous work with children/students that show you can put your knowledge into practice.

Meritorious is experience working with older students in middle school in need of support in various ways, but it is also positive if you have worked in special education groups where several students with support needs work as a group.
