Job Description

At our center, we work with children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities from a life-course perspective. Your duties include mapping the patient's situation to identify strengths and difficulties, as well as assessing the need for support and interventions. The psychologist works both preventively and with difficulties that have arisen cognitively, communicatively, socially, adaptively, and emotionally as a result of the disability. The purpose of the interventions is to contribute to a functioning daily life with increased participation and good quality of life.

The psychologist works with assessment and investigation, providing interventions directly to the patient and/or via parents, relatives, and networks. Interventions are provided during individual and team visits, home visits, visits to schools/preschools, workplaces/day activities, through education for networks and relatives, and via group activities.

You will have the opportunity to work preventively and long-term with patients facing challenges in the form of various disabilities. Here, you will apply your knowledge in learning psychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and developmental psychology, while simultaneously learning about how rare diagnoses affect our patients' daily functioning.

Regardless of our patients' diagnoses, our psychologists work to promote health, provide diagnostic information to patients and networks, and help translate how cognitive functioning impacts daily life.

In the team, the psychologist contributes their specific professional competence by spreading knowledge, providing information, collaborating, and prioritizing together with other team members. The psychologist adds psychological competence to discussions regarding both patient cases and approaches and working methods within the teams.

About the Workplace

Habiliteringscentrum is a specialist service within Region Västmanland, tasked with providing people with disabilities the conditions to live a good life. Our goal is to facilitate daily life and create conditions for participation in society. We offer support, advice, and treatment to children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities in the areas of intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, physical disability, acquired brain injury, and visual impairment. We also provide support and consultation to relatives and close ones. The interventions we provide complement the support offered by other societal institutions. Collaboration is therefore an important part of our work.

At our Habilitation center in Fagersta, you will work with patients in all diagnostic areas, thereby gaining broad knowledge and experience. The unit consists of 14 experienced employees with a high level of patient engagement.

As a psychologist within habilitation, you will work broadly and variably based on your competence. Your work includes implementing measures at the individual level as well as conducting educational initiatives and other forms of support at the group level. The role also involves monitoring developments in your field to develop your own and the team's working methods.

Newly Licensed Psychologist

For you who are a newly licensed psychologist, we offer a two-year competence package to provide a smoother transition between the role of PTP-psychologist and licensed psychologist.

The competence package includes:

• Operation-specific course
• Participation in a national/Nordic congress
• Audit in primary care, habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, or forensic psychiatry (total of five days)
• Opportunity to take supervisor training in year 2
• Personal follow-up by an experienced psychologist

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed psychologist, preferably with experience working within habilitation. We consider it an advantage if you have experience in investigative work and experience within adult psychiatry. Experience with the medical record system Cosmic is an advantage. Since you need to communicate orally and in writing with patients, relatives, and colleagues in this role, good knowledge of the Swedish language is required. Other language skills are an advantage.

As a person, you are sensitive and have a good ability to put yourself in others' situations. You have a respectful and kind approach towards both patients and colleagues. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. To thrive in the work, you need to be self-reliant with good judgment and empathetic ability.
