Our vision is to become Sweden's best school municipality. Sollentuna's municipal schools achieve good student results and have high safety figures thanks to fantastic employees. By utilizing research and proven pedagogy, we aim for even higher quality to stimulate children's and young people's creativity and learning. In our schools, students should achieve excellent academic results and develop the competencies and skills required for future studies and professional life.
Rösjöskolan is located in Edsberg, close to nature reserves and Lake Rösjön. Approximately 420 students attend the school, ranging from preschool class to grade 6. We offer school and after-school care for students in regular school, adapted school, and preparatory classes. The school environment creates all the prerequisites for movement, learning, and health, and our staff are driven by making a difference and creating conditions for every student to reach as far as possible in their knowledge development. The compensatory mission is significant, and the school actively works to create a socially and academically promoting environment.
This is a 100% temporary position for the academic year 2026/2027, with a possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
As a school counselor at Rösjöskolan, you work in both regular school and adapted school. You conduct psychosocial assessments adapted for students with varying communication abilities, including those with limited verbal skills. The role involves supporting staff in interactions, structure, and adaptations, as well as supervising work teams in student-facing situations.
You work preventively and health-promotingly at both group and organizational levels, and are responsible for social investigations and assessments. You coordinate interventions for students, including SIP (Individual Study Plan) and EHT (Student Health Team) work, and play a central role in contacting external actors such as habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), and LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) services.
The work sometimes involves communicating with students through alternative communication methods and working in a low-arousal manner. You build relationships with students and guardians and have a good understanding of risk factors in the students' surroundings. You use your knowledge of how cognitive impairments affect well-being, social interaction, and sensory sensitivity. As part of an interprofessional student health team, you contribute to developing working methods that strengthen students' opportunities to grow, develop, and prepare for the future based on their individual prerequisites.
Qualifications
As a school counselor, you easily create contact and build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and staff. You enjoy being visible in the operation, moving among the students, and using your presence to create safety and accessibility. You collaborate closely with various professions and contribute specialist competence to student health work. The role requires you to be proactive and initiative-taking, to approach situations with engagement, and to find ways to reach students who communicate in different ways, including students with limited verbal skills who use alternative communication methods. You have a good understanding of risk factors in the students' environment and can translate this knowledge into a professional and low-arousal approach.
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work (Social Worker), degree in Behavioral Science, education in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
- Experience working with children and young people in schools, habilitation, or similar operations.
- Experience within intellectual disability and autism.
Merits
- Experience working with students with extensive communication difficulties.
- Experience from working in structurally disadvantaged areas.
- Experience working with challenging behaviors and preventive strategies, as well as documented knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Experience working with interventions that strengthen students' mental health.
- Experience of collaboration with habilitation, BUP, and LSS services.
- Worked as a social worker with a field orientation.
