The Swedish Civil Defence Agency (Myndigheten för psykologiskt försvar) safeguards an open and democratic society and free opinion formation by identifying, analyzing, and responding to improper information influence and other misleading information directed at Sweden or Swedish interests.

Through analysis, collaboration, and knowledge dissemination, the Agency contributes to safeguarding an open and democratic society. The Agency's main task is to lead the work on coordination and development of activities by agencies and other actors within Sweden's psychological defense. The Agency is led by a Director General and has approximately 90 employees. The Agency has offices in Karlstad and Solna.

The Communications Department is responsible for the Agency's internal and external communications. The role includes planning, implementation, and coordination of communication efforts, media contacts, and environmental scanning, as well as social media work. The Department is also responsible for managing and developing the Agency's website and intranet, monitoring and analyzing the effects of communications, and ensuring that the Agency's digital services are accessible and user-friendly for everyone. Currently, seven employees work in the Department, located in both Karlstad and Solna.

We are now expanding our Communications Department with one additional communicator. The workplace is either Karlstad or Solna.

Job Responsibilities

The position involves both strategic and operational communication work, with a special focus on external communications and project management at an Agency with an important mission in the total defense.

You will work with communication issues and projects in close collaboration with operations and management. The position involves a cross-functional approach and includes participation in the Agency's press function and media contacts, as well as other ongoing work within the Communications Department.

The communication activities have recently been consolidated into a new Communications Department, which provides good opportunities to develop working methods, processes, and the Agency's communicative capabilities together with engaged and experienced colleagues.

Through your work, you contribute to strengthening Sweden's psychological defense and society's resilience against improper information influence.

Examples of tasks:

• Lead, plan, implement, and monitor communication efforts.
• Participate in cross-agency and external collaboration groups.
• Handle press contacts and media inquiries.
• Write press releases, articles, and other target-group-adapted texts.
• Support spokespersons before interviews and other public appearances.
• Develop and maintain relationships with collaborating agencies and other external actors.
• Produce content for web and social media.
• Analyze and monitor communication efforts.

We are a smaller Agency, and everyone helps out within the Communications Department's area. This can range from environmental scanning and contacting production agencies to working in publishing tools – a varied job!

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• Relevant academic education in communication, journalism, or other education and experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• Experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring communication efforts.
• Experience in adapting messages to different target groups and channels.
• Experience working with press and media issues in an Agency or larger organization.
• Experience working with social media and digital communication.
• Very good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious to have experience from a government Agency as well as work within crisis communication or issues related to information influence, security, or total defense.

About the Employment

The employment is permanent and full-time, and may start with a probationary period. The workplace is either Karlstad or Solna; you will be asked to specify which location you are interested in when you submit your application in the recruitment system.

We conduct a security clearance with register control according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required. The Agency is part of Sweden's total defense, and the position therefore involves war-time placement.
