Organization Description

The Social Services Department in Gällivare Municipality is responsible for social services and municipal healthcare. The department is undergoing a comprehensive transformation with a focus on quality, follow-up, competence supply, and developed working methods in line with the new Social Services Act.

We are now looking for a Social Secretary for our school social team. This is an initiative where schools and social services work together to strengthen children's conditions for success in school and in life. You will be organizationally placed within social services, and your direct manager will be the Operations Manager for Children and Young People. Your primary workplace will be in the school environment, where you will work closely with school staff, school health services, and guardians. You will become part of a close collaboration between social services and schools. Here, you will have the opportunity to work in an exciting school social team while enjoying the security of a permanent position within the Children and Young People's department. The project runs until December 31, 2026, and we naturally hope for a continuation, but regardless of the project's future, you will have a permanent position as a Social Secretary within the operation.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment involves building trust, creating presence, and contributing to security in everyday life. You are organizationally placed within social services but have your daily workplace in the school environment, where you work closely with school staff, school health services, and guardians.

In this role, you work preventively and relationally. You meet children and families in their daily lives, catch signals early, and provide support before difficulties deepen. The work involves close interaction between several actors and requires both structure and flexibility.

You will:

• collaborate with guardians, schools, school health services, and other actors
• identify children and students in need of support at an early stage
• provide advice, support, and short-term interventions to children and families
• work to increase school attendance and break negative trends
• participate in and lead collaboration meetings
• work systematically with mapping, planning, and follow-up
• contribute to developing working methods and approaches within the team

Interventions take place at both individual and group levels, always with the best interests of the child in focus.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work and experience in social work, preferably within the child and youth area. You have good knowledge of social services' assignments and legislation and thrive in collaboration with other professions. Experience in preventive work or school-related social work is meritorious.

As a person, you are secure and relationship-building. You have the ability to create trust in meetings with children and guardians and are both attentive and clear in your communication. You work systematically but are flexible when the situation requires it, and you actively contribute to both your own work and the team's development. You have very good communicative skills in both speech and writing and thrive in collaboration with managers, employees, and political representatives. Personal suitability is highly valued. In accordance with the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

An extract from the criminal record must be presented prior to employment. A Category B driver's license is required.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, fixed-term until 2026-12-31. If you wish, you will have a permanent position as a Social Secretary within Children and Young People. Working hours are during the day, but evening work may occur on rare occasions.

Monthly salary, we apply individual salary setting.
