Are you a communicative leader with a solid technical foundation looking to take the next step in your career? Here you have the opportunity to lead industrial projects and drive the establishment of a new region within an expanding global company. If you are open, proactive, and want to work in a role with high trust and short decision-making paths – apply now!
About the role
As a Technical Project Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to lead projects around Stockholm and in the region for an expanding global company active in Plant Engineering. Our client is a group with 16,000 employees globally and approximately 25 colleagues in Sweden. Through a strong growth journey involving several acquisitions, the company combines the large corporation's global resources with a flat, agile, and family-like corporate culture locally.
Here, you will become a key player in the company's strategic push into the Stockholm market. You will join the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation department and report to the Department Manager. Since the department is currently based outside of Stockholm, you will be among the first on-site in the region, with the goal of eventually establishing a shared physical office. The team is characterized by strong cross-border collaboration (primarily with colleagues in Norway).
What we offer
- Ownership – the opportunity to lead and shape technical projects from start to finish with great freedom and personal responsibility.
- International network – access to a vast global network of expertise and resources that can be utilized in local projects.
- Culture – a secure employer that invests long-term and offers a family-like community despite its global size.
Key Responsibilities
In the role of Project Manager, you will drive and lead projects around Stockholm as well as smaller projects in the region. Your main tasks include:
- Planning, steering, and monitoring projects: You lead industrial renovation and new construction projects in the region, ensuring that schedules and quality requirements are met from start to finish.
- Resource and schedule planning: You coordinate and allocate work for technical resources in the project, focusing on optimizing time and staffing, as the customer purchases materials directly.
- Acting as a technical and commercial partner to the end customer: You are the customer's primary contact person, driving transparent dialogue and handling ongoing commercial reviews as well as change and additional work (Change Order management).
- Verifying technical data and schedules: You use your technical background to review documentation and drawings, allowing you to assess whether the project's timeframes and technical solutions are actually reasonable and feasible.
We are looking for someone who
- Has a solid technical foundation: You have relevant education or strong technical experience that enables you to understand and verify project data.
- Has at least 1.5 years of experience driving technical projects: You have experience leading either longer, continuous projects or several shorter, intensive projects.
- Has a broad technical base: You are not too rigidly locked into a specific narrow area, but have a breadth that helps you frame your project management.
- Must-have Swedish skills: You have very good skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, as this is required to communicate smoothly and without misunderstandings with the end customer.
- Good knowledge of English: You can communicate well in English, as it is the group's internal business language.
It is an advantage if you have
- Experience from consultancy, preferably from larger players in the industry.
- Experience with budget management, cost control, and change order management.
To succeed in the role, you have the following personal qualities:
In this recruitment process, we place exceptional importance on your personality. We believe you are a distinctly communicative and open person with a naturally proactive attitude. You find it easy to build good relationships and maintain a very open and transparent collaboration with the end customer. You thrive in a dynamic environment during the build-up phase, take natural leadership, and have the ability to keep project teams together even when resources are geographically dispersed.
Other information:
Depending on which customer project you will step into, a background check may become relevant later in the process.
Our recruitment process
This recruitment process is handled by Academic Work, and our client's request is that all questions regarding the position are sent to Academic Work.
We apply continuous selection and will remove the ad when enough candidates have reached the final stage of the recruitment process. A CV is required when applying. We do not use cover letters as a selection method, so one does not need to be attached. The recruitment process includes two selection tests: a personality test and a cognitive ability test. The tests are a tool to find the candidate with the highest potential for the position and to promote equality, diversity, and a fair recruitment process.
