Operational Case Handler – Swedish Security Service
SäkerhetspolisenVästra Götalands län, Göteborg
Previous experience is desired
The Swedish Security Service (SÄPO) works to protect national security, the democratic system, and citizens' freedoms and rights. We are looking for individuals who contribute complementary perspectives, knowledge, and experiences that collectively make us better.
Events in the world around us affect our daily lives, and our days do not always look as we planned. The Swedish Security Service is now looking for you who want to handle and drive intelligence matters as part of assessing and reducing the intent and capability of threat actors to engage in security-threatening activities.
Together we protect Sweden.
This is your assignment
The Swedish Security Service's mission is complex; as colleagues, we complement each other. For this position, we are looking for you with a police or civilian background.
In the regional operations, you will come into contact with all of the Swedish Security Service's areas of activity. This means, among other things, that your tasks will involve issues and cases related to counter-espionage, counter-terrorism, security protection, constitutional protection, and personal protection. As an operational case handler, you are a vital part of a complex, event-driven, varied, and collaboration-oriented context.
In the role of operational case handler, you work with intelligence and investigative work, where a large part of your job involves collecting, analyzing, and compiling often large amounts of information. Within the scope of the role, you will also participate in various operational measures as part of your duties.
You build contacts and maintain relationships with various societal actors and cooperating authorities with the aim of identifying incidents that could be harmful to Sweden's security. You work in a data-driven process where you focus on collecting intelligence from databases and open sources, which serve as the basis for operational threat-reducing measures in collaboration with other authorities and partners nationally and internationally.
As an operational case handler, you represent the Swedish Security Service in the region in various forms of cooperation and forums, where you give lectures on the Swedish Security Service's mission and operations.
Your placement is at our regional office in Gothenburg, and the work is performed on-site, meaning you do not have the option to work remotely. Travel within and outside Sweden may occur.
These are the qualifications we are looking for
Only those who meet the requirements below will be considered for the position.
Requirements:
- University degree, police degree, or other education and experience that the Swedish Security Service deems equivalent
- At least two years of documented relevant work experience
- Good ability to collect, analyze, and compile large amounts of information
- Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
- Good IT skills and experience using various IT systems and databases
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
You may also have competencies that add breadth and complementary perspectives. If you can contribute with one or more of the following, it is meritorious:
- Experience working with operational measures
- Experience in intelligence or investigative work
- Experience in inter-authority cooperation and/or other external partners
- Good knowledge of work within the Swedish public sector
- Good ability to present and communicate compilations and analyses in internal and external contexts
This is the colleague we are looking for
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and are looking for someone who is engaged and responsible. You are unpretentious and have an easy time driving your work forward independently.
Our daily lives are influenced by events in our surroundings, and the role requires a good ability to find solutions to problems you encounter in your daily work. You will work in an event-driven and planned operation, which requires a good ability to maintain planning and precision combined with the ability to switch between different tasks.
You are expected to promote a holistic view, drive, good relationships, and learning in taking responsibility for the authority's mission and its results. You promote cooperation, have a positive expectation of others, and create a safe, open climate with the intent to understand others' perspectives and good intentions by sharing knowledge, experiences, and motivating others to do the same.
You have the ability to see your own tasks in a larger context and take responsibility for your part of the whole.
The Swedish Security Service has high demands on security and confidentiality; therefore, we assume that you have a high level of security awareness.
