Do you want to make a real difference for people experiencing homelessness, loneliness, or other forms of vulnerability? New Community (Ny Gemenskap) is a non-profit organization that has provided food, warmth, support, and most importantly – human compassion – for over 50 years. We are now looking for a Café Manager for our Café Södermalm located in the Söderhöjden Church at Mariatorget.

About the Role

Café Södermalm is an open meeting place where everyone is welcome, with a special focus on society's most vulnerable. People from diverse backgrounds and with different needs come here. In addition to serving breakfast, we offer clothing and food parcel distribution, music and cultural programs, as well as social support and guidance to other support services. There are three permanent staff members on site, working together with volunteers, interns, and individuals performing community service.

Your Responsibilities

As the Café Manager, you are responsible for the overall operation of the café. This includes, among other things:

  • Supervising and distributing daily tasks, performing administrative duties, and coordinating volunteers.
  • Managing purchases, basic finances, and planning the activities.
  • Maintaining contact and collaboration with other organizations working with people in vulnerable situations.
  • Working closely with the managers of our other three cafés and engaging in dialogue with the Operations Manager.
  • Participating operationally in the work: preparing breakfast, welcoming guests, creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere, organizing activities, and ensuring the premises are tidy and orderly.

The role is largely about human connection – seeing, listening, and building trust.

What We Offer

A meaningful and developmental position in a small, warm, and dedicated team. Here you will have the opportunity to contribute your experience, influence and develop the operations, and put your ideas into practice.
