How do you know that the railway's infrastructure is safe, functional, and ready for traffic? You are responsible for driving the work forward according to the agreement and working closely with both contractors and internal functions regarding follow-up, planning, and development of measures in the infrastructure.

Responsibilities

In this role, as a Project Manager, you will primarily be responsible for either:

  • Leading contracts concerning mainly periodic measurement of overhead lines and tracks as part of the Swedish Transport Administration's safety assessment of the infrastructure, as well as contracts for measuring the free space (FOMUL), although other contracts may become relevant. These contracts cover the entire area of Sweden.
  • Leading contracts concerning preparatory measures such as cable localization, ground investigations, and CIRRUS (whose task is to collect data, including laser point clouds, to enable digital site visits and infrastructure knowledge, etc.), although other contracts may become relevant. These contracts cover the entire area of Sweden.

As a Project Manager, you work both operationally and strategically, focusing on driving, leading, and coordinating the work in the project. You conduct follow-ups and analyses and develop improvement and action proposals to ensure progress in the project (with regard to Time, Cost, and Content).

The Project Manager must ensure that the contract is carried out according to the agreed terms by:

  • Driving, leading, and coordinating the work in the project.
  • Ensuring that the need for measures in the infrastructure is documented.
  • Ensuring that measures in the production plan are followed up (delivery follow-up).
  • Responsible for business planning, business follow-up, and forecasting.
  • Driving the development of request documents and procurement of contracts when necessary.
  • Handling external contacts with the public, municipalities, and other stakeholders within the project.
  • Supporting other departments within own and other business areas, based on technical competence and knowledge of the infrastructure's status.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of Project Manager, you have good problem-solving skills; you solve operational problems without missing the long-term strategies, and you perceive and analyze connections in the complex information environment that characterizes the railway. You are proactive and structured and can independently see what needs to be done and act accordingly. It is also important that you are team-oriented to achieve common goals together with your team. You have good communication skills, your message is conveyed clearly, and you are receptive and adapt your communication to the situation. You are confident and clear in your leadership and have the courage to express your own opinions. As a leader at the Swedish Transport Administration, you are driven by helping people grow through present leadership, and through your leadership, you create trust and build confidence.

We are looking for you who has:

  • An education with a technical focus at university level or other education combined with experience that we assess as equivalent.
  • Work experience from maintenance or new construction within the railway sector.
  • At least three years of work experience in project work in a leading position.
  • Knowledge in procurement/purchasing and contract law.
  • Competence or previous experience as a Safety and Security Manager/Planner.
  • Competence or previous experience in occupational health and safety issues.
  • Documented railway technical knowledge.
  • Proficiency in the Office suite.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Valid driver's license for passenger car.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Good ability to work with the Swedish Transport Administration's IT tools.
  • Knowledge of ABK09.
  • Good negotiation skills.

Other Information

The employment is subject to a security check without placement in a security class. For employment, a passed result in the security check is required, which is conducted in accordance with provisions in the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
