The Workplace

Carl Johanskolan is a secondary school with 200 students in central Karlsborg, which has recently undergone an exciting transformation. The entire school has been renovated and rebuilt to adapt to a modern and functional school with the student and teacher working environment at the center.

Job Responsibilities

You will be part of our student health team, which consists of three additional special needs teachers, a special educator, a school nurse, a counselor, and a study and career counselor. The work as a special needs teacher involves responsibility for planning and conducting teaching with students, individually and in groups, or together with the subject teacher in the classroom. You are skilled at adapting school work to different levels and are responsible for the students' development. Together with teaching teachers, you work on adapting both the learning environment and the teaching so that all our students have the prerequisites to reach their goals. You will also assist in the execution of assessments and action plans, and have contact with external actors.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree as a special needs teacher, education as a special educator, or who have started (or are about to start) education to obtain a special needs teacher degree. If you have additional qualifications, we see this as an asset.

You have good knowledge of the curriculum's goals and the school's governing documents, as well as the ability to explain and adapt information based on different recipients and perspectives. With secure pedagogical and didactic competence, you can lead and organize work to create study success and an accessible learning environment for all students. You use relevant digital tools as a natural support in your work and are interested in developing your working methods based on research and development work. We would also appreciate it if you have knowledge in assistive technology and clarifying pedagogy. For you, the students' needs and development are always at the center.

As a person, you are relationship-building and engaged in seeing other people grow and develop. You work independently, take initiative, and at the same time have good collaboration skills. With a flexible approach and a solution-focused working method, you find ways forward based on the student's best interests. You collaborate in a secure and professional manner with students, guardians, and colleagues, and contribute to a positive work climate. Structure and flexibility go hand in hand in your working method, and you see participation as an important prerequisite for students' development and learning.
