Your responsibilities

A mentoring session should be something other than an extra lecture. The mentoring session should focus on group work and working on a problem or problem area. The mentor chooses and prepares a central moment or task from the course for the group to work on. It is important that this is not new to the students, but that they have had both lectures and lessons and have themselves had time to work somewhat with the subject matter covered in the mentoring session.

Your qualifications

To be employed as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to higher education studies at the first or second cycle level.

You should have a good grade in the course you wish to work in. Good grades in other mathematics courses within your program are meritorious.

Experience of your own well-functioning teaching is meritorious.

It is meritorious if you are a student at LiU.

Your workplace

You will work at the Division of Analysis and Didactics (ANDI), Department of Mathematics (MAI). Mathematics is of fundamental importance for modern natural science and technology, but it is simultaneously its own field of science. Research and education at the department cover a broad spectrum of areas, from pure mathematics and intradisciplinary problem formulations to applications in technology, natural science, economics, and subject didactics. At ANDI, both intradisciplinary and applied research is conducted within various branches of analysis as well as mathematics didactics. About the employment

As a mentor in mathematics, you are responsible for mentoring sessions where the scope is one session of 2*45 min per week. In total, in courses TATA65 and TATA67 there are 9 sessions, in TATA3110 10 sessions, and in TATA16 and TATA24 14 sessions.

TATA65 starts directly in the zero period week 34, TATA16 and TATA24 start directly in autumn term 1, TATA31 starts around week 40, and TATA67 around week 41.

Employment as a teaching assistant can never be more than 50 percent of a full-time position.

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
