Sundsgymnasiet is Vellinge Municipality's upper secondary school with approx. 950 students distributed across five pre-university programs and introductory programs. The school is characterized by a positive and welcoming learning environment with a well-functioning student health service, and our fine facilities also house the municipality's adult education, Vellinge Lärcenter, with approx. 300 students.

The school is expanding further this autumn and is characterized by attractive theoretical educations, elite sports programs in equestrian sports, golf, and sailing, as well as advanced arts education. Together, we create a safe and challenging study environment where every individual can be who they are and be given the opportunity to develop into who they want to become, which is the school's vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The school is expanding, and we are therefore looking for another school librarian. The position is a permanent part-time employment at 75%.

Together with current colleagues, you will further develop our school library into an increasingly well-integrated part of the operations that supports learning and students' goal achievement.

The school library at Sundsgymnasiet and VLC has been integrated with the public library in Vellinge for many years. We share premises and literature collections, but the school library has its own information desk and an entrance adjacent to the school's facilities. As a school librarian, you work closely with the public library staff, share responsibility for an inclusive and welcoming environment, and staff the information and lending desk for part of the day. Team spirit and a sharing culture are strong, and it is important that you enjoy working with and close to your colleagues.

As a school librarian at Sundsgymnasiet and VLC, you contribute to creating a future-proof education for Vellinge Municipality's upper secondary and adult students, and are responsible for:

• purchasing of literature, magazines, and databases
• the digital and physical school library where reading, research, critical thinking, and creativity are central to teaching and learning
• procedures and handling of the schools' teaching materials regarding arrival registration, lending, and return
• planning in collaboration with school library colleagues, teachers, work teams, and subject teams regarding literature and media and information literacy (MIL) in regular teaching
• teaching, workshops, and guidance in media and information literacy for teachers and students
• reading promotion work in various forms
• work for a study environment that is calm, safe, and inclusive

Together with your nearest colleague, you will also be expected to initiate projects related to the school library's operations and actively follow developments in the area through continuous environmental scanning.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have experience working in a school library, preferably at upper secondary/adult education level, and have initiative and a clear commitment to both young people and adult students. You are flexible, structured, outgoing, and self-directed.

In addition, we see that you have:

• a university degree in Library and Information Science
• good knowledge of literature
• high digital competence and interest in digital communication in various forms
• a great interest in developing the operations with all the flexibility, endurance, and creativity that entails
• good pedagogical skills
• ability to express yourself well in speech and writing
• good collaboration and organizational skills
• strategies for broad and long-term environmental scanning

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability and the ability to engage students and staff.
