The Workplace

The Social Services Administration in Karlsborg is responsible for elderly care, care for people with disabilities, municipal health and medical care, as well as individual and family care. The administration employs approximately 250 staff members.

Within personal assistance, we have a team of about 20 employees. Your primary workplace will be the client's own home, and working hours vary between days, evenings, and weekends. Since this is a new case, you and the client will have the opportunity to establish work routines together, building on the knowledge the client already possesses. Karlsborg Municipality operates based on staffing economics and full-time work as the norm, which means that resource assignments in other units may occur.

Responsibilities

As a personal assistant, you provide support in daily life to a person with extensive disabilities. The work often involves helping with tasks that are part of everyone's daily routine, adapted to the client's needs and wishes. This can include care measures, household chores, and activities that the client enjoys. The goal is to support the client in making decisions about their own life and developing their abilities to live as independently as possible. The work is guided by a pedagogical and motivating approach, in close collaboration with the client's network and other staff.

We are currently seeking 4–6 personal assistants for a woman in her 40s. The client has support around the clock with varying working hours. A driver's license is required as the client participates in activities that require transportation.

Qualifications

Since the workplace is in the client's home, high demands are placed on personal maturity and consideration. You should possess good social competence and be flexible, responsible, and orderly. You must feel comfortable working alone, as this is the case for most of the time. Good teamwork skills, a positive attitude, and a solution-focused approach are also important. You should be a warm and empathetic person who is comfortable taking initiative.

Previous experience in care work, such as a personal assistant or assistant nurse, is required. However, personality and chemistry between you and the client are considered the most important factors.

Computer proficiency is required as all documentation is done digitally, as well as for some communication within the work group and with the manager.
