We are looking for a Communications Strategist and Project Manager who wants to drive development within communication, fundraising, and public affairs – with a special focus on highlighting research and biodiversity.
The Swedish Museum of Natural History is Sweden's largest museum and a leading research institution where curiosity meets science. We are a government agency that increases knowledge about and interest in nature and the world we live in through research, unique collections, and experiences such as Cosmonova, exhibitions, museum activities, and digital content. Together, we create insight, engagement, and drive for a thriving planet.
We are now looking for an experienced interim Marketing Communicator/Marketer to welcome to our communication team. You will play a central role in planning, leading, and following up on communication and marketing efforts for our public operations and internal communication. The position is an interim role during the period from August 17, 2026, to June 30, 2028.

Responsibilities
In this role, you work at the intersection of PR, fundraising, and public affairs, highlighting the museum's mission to clarify that we are a research organization and to highlight biodiversity. You drive both strategic and operational initiatives and have a central function in developing the organization's communication and fundraising work. You will work closely with management and operations to develop processes, create engagement, and strengthen the organization's external relations and business acumen.
As a Communications Strategist and Project Manager, you will among other things:
- Drive business-developing projects within communication and carry out communication initiatives.
- Develop and drive the organization's fundraising work, including strategy, structure, methods, and implementation within the organization.
- Create and implement systems and processes for donor relations, communication, and follow-up.
- Clarify the organization's role as a research activity.
- Contribute to the development of the organization's business model together with the management group of the public department.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- Education in communication, education in fundraising, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.
- Several years of experience in project management.
- Ability and experience to create and drive campaigns based on identified needs.
- Experience in strategic and operational communication work.
- Experience in successful work with campaigns, storytelling, and PR.
- Experience with press and media contacts.
- Several years of experience in professional fundraising or other relevant experience in diversified funding (major gifts, CSR, foundation work).
- Good understanding of donor journeys, target group analysis, and segmentation.
- Experience in compiling and analyzing statistics.
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

- Experience in business development.
- Experience working in non-profit organizations, the cultural sector, or research-related activities (not in the requirement profile but good to add).
- Knowledge of the museum's subject areas and specifically biodiversity.
Employment Type and Terms
Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer (Interim role August 17, 2026 – June 30, 2028).
