Your role with us

The position involves providing advisory assistance to operations, boards, and companies with legal issues, primarily within public law and civil law. The areas of responsibility within the legal department are currently divided, and the person we are looking for will be responsible for areas that we jointly determine based on the group's combined experience and competence. Providing legal support to the municipal executive board and managers in municipal law issues, such as confidentiality matters, is part of everyone's duties.

We are specifically looking for a lawyer with experience in areas such as school law, emergency preparedness law, or business law, for example, corporate law, tax law, or contracts and negotiations.

The position involves working closely with the municipality's other two lawyers. The collaboration means that you may sometimes need to familiarize yourself with and handle new areas within the municipality's operations. New areas of responsibility may also arise depending on the situation in the external environment and changes in legislation.

In some cases, you will represent the municipality in both administrative courts and general courts. The position also includes, as needed, investigating and, in collaboration with the secretariat, developing governing documents such as overall guidelines, delegation orders, and regulations.

A part of the job is to inform and educate staff and elected officials on various legal issues. Our aim is a preventive approach, and we would like to get involved early in various processes. The municipal lawyers work closely together, especially on municipality-wide issues such as transparency and confidentiality, municipal law, and administrative law. Otherwise, the specific issues of the different administrations are divided among the municipal lawyers with main areas of responsibility.

Who are we looking for?

You must have a law degree (at least at bachelor's level 120 credits/180 ECTS) or another university education that the employer considers equivalent. Experience in litigation and qualified legal work, or other experience that the employer finds equivalent, is meritorious. Additionally, having completed a judicial internship or served as a clerk in court is also meritorious.

Good legal knowledge and analytical skills are a prerequisite for the position, as well as being a person with good judgment and integrity. For us, it is important that you are meticulous and efficient, have a good ability to learn new legal areas, and have an interest in current legal issues. It is an advantage if you have experience in one or more of the following areas: school law, emergency preparedness law, business law (corporate law, tax law, or contracts and negotiations). We would appreciate experience from a politically governed organization, for example, municipal administration.

Since communication and documentation are part of the job, you are good at writing clearly, concisely, and in a well-structured manner. You are accustomed to giving presentations, lectures, and training and can adapt your communication to the target audience. This means finding creative solutions at times to convey important and sometimes complex information.

We want you to be good at creating and maintaining good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in different contexts and functions that you encounter in your role. You have an easy time applying specialized and detailed expert knowledge and the ability to convey this to others in a pedagogical way. You show understanding for and make use of the organization's various expert areas.

To thrive in our work group, it is a plus if you are a social person and have a good sense of humor, as we support each other in big and small matters.

About us

You will be one of three municipal lawyers and belong to the secretariat unit with 12 employees who work in areas such as the secretariat, archives, elections, and law. The unit belongs to the Municipal Executive Office, and the workplace is Rådhus Skåne in Kristianstad.

Together, we work preventively to meet the needs of the administrations. The Municipal Executive Office is responsible for strategically leading, coordinating, and developing the municipality's operations. Functions such as economy, HR, IT, communication, citizen center, business life, tourism, and shared services are housed here. With our approximately 700 dedicated employees, we work under the leadership of the Municipal Board to create positive development for everyone in our municipality.
