The department's astroparticle physics group focuses on studying neutrinos as messengers to understand our universe. You will work at the forefront of research as we enter a new era for the IceCube Collaboration with the recently completed Upgrade. You will also become part of the EU-funded ACME project, which provides additional resources for your work and opportunities to connect with other experiments.
Respons
The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role within the IceCube collaboration, particularly in neutrino astrophysics related to the recently installed upgrade. Research focusing on deep learning, low-energy astrophysics, and/or multi-messenger astronomy will be prioritized. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for strengthening the interface between the SuperNova Early Warning System (SNEWS) and other multi-messenger experiments as a member of the ACME project.
Qualifications
A PhD in physics or astronomy, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. The degree must be completed no later than the time the employment decision is made. Priority is given to candidates who have completed their degree within the last three years. The starting point for calculating the three-year time limit is the last day of application. If there are special reasons, such degree may have been completed earlier. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, trust positions within trade unions, etc.
Good communication skills in both spoken and written English are required.
Desirable/Additional Qualifications
Experience in software development, including good knowledge of Python and deep learning, data analysis, neutrino astrophysics, and/or neutrino detection is considered advantageous. Candidates should be able to work independently and integrate well within the framework of a large international collaboration.
