The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crisis, high alert, and war.

Do you want to lead the work to make all of Sweden ready? Then you could be our next colleague.

We are now looking for a Medical Coordinator to join the team within the Health Function. The function's mission is to provide appropriate medical support to operational activities and operational personnel.

Your responsibilities and tasks

As a Medical Coordinator, you work with health and medical care-related tasks connected to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency's operational activities. Your duties include responsibility for health documentation and medication management, health advice to operational personnel, and assessing health examinations and health risk assessments during operational planning. Together with other relevant functions, you contribute to implementing and developing the agency's duty of care. You also plan and conduct training and exercises related to health risks associated with operations.

The role involves collaborating with other authorities and organizations both nationally and internationally, as well as performing other administrative tasks within the function. You are expected to be scheduled regularly as the on-duty officer for the function.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse and have:

  • documented work experience within the health and medical care sector.
  • experience working with health and medical care in an international context in crisis and conflict areas.
  • good proficiency in using the Office package.
  • very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
  • A valid driver's license (Category B).

It is meritorious if you have:

  • pedagogical competence and experience,
  • experience working within the public sector,
  • other education such as, for example, certified instructor in medical training,
  • other knowledge and experience that contributes to the execution of tasks within the function.

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the government's values. As all employees and leaders here, you are expected to act according to the agency's code of conduct. The code of conduct applies in daily life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build upon each other; collaboration-oriented – proactive – action-oriented.

As a person, we see that you have a flexible approach, are accustomed to speaking in front of groups, and have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge from different premises. We believe that you value differences and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others. You have the ability to take this into account when decisions are made and courses of action are chosen.

The role is part of the agency's operational capability. This means your workday is often characterized by events beyond your own control and demands delivery under time pressure. Therefore, it is important that you have a flexible approach and adapt easily to changed circumstances.

About the employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position starting with a probationary period.

Your place of work will be Karlstad, and travel as part of the employment will occur.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the event of placement in a security class, a security investigation with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.

About us

At the Section for Health and Education, we are approximately 10 employees, and most are based in Karlstad.

We have an activity-based office where you can choose your workplace based on your own needs. You may also have the opportunity for remote work to some extent.

We also offer you the opportunity to take fitness hours and you will receive a fitness allowance. For you as a state employee, there are also favorable holiday conditions.
