According to surveys, Övertorneå Municipality's schools are among the best in the country, offering education of the highest quality – from preschool to adult education. One of the key factors highlighted is small class sizes with a high teacher-to-student ratio and experienced teachers, which allows for more individual attention for each student. We place great emphasis on IT competence among both students and staff, as computers and iPads are used to enhance teaching. We have high expectations for both students and staff. We are now looking for a leisure-time pedagogue (fritidspedagog) for the after-school center at Svarträven School.

About you:

We are primarily looking for someone who is qualified to teach in the after-school center. Alternatively, we are open to preschool teachers or childcare assistants.

You should have strong pedagogical skills and a positive attitude towards our students. You are flexible, open-minded, meticulous, and have good collaboration skills. We value your commitment, responsibility, and professional competence, and expect you to actively work towards cooperation between the school and the after-school center based on the goals of the National Curriculum. Previous work with children/students in school and after-school settings, as well as experience working with individuals requiring special support, is considered an asset.

As we are the administrative municipality for Finnish and Meänkieli, knowledge of these languages is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

You will have significant responsibility for the pedagogical activities of the after-school center together with the rest of the staff, and are also expected to work as a resource person and substitute teacher during the times when children are not at the after-school center.

Scope:

Full-time, 100% fixed-term employment for one year, starting August 3, 2026. Extension may be possible.
