Resident Doctor in Radiology and Mammography at Region Kronoberg

Imaging and Functional Medicine at Region Kronoberg includes radiology and clinical physiology with operations in both Växjö and Ljungby. Together, we are approximately 180 employees. The operations are mainly conducted during daytime hours, but also include standby and on-call services during evenings, nights, and weekends, where night-time review is partially performed by external reviewers.

We run a broad radiological operation with a modern fleet of equipment and close collaboration with the region's clinical specialties. This creates good conditions for you as a resident doctor (ST-läkare) to obtain a stable educational foundation in a developing and stimulating work environment.

The Mammography Section

The Mammography Section at Region Kronoberg is part of a well-functioning breast process with good results and close collaboration between breast surgeons, pathologists, and oncologists. The operations are located in both Växjö and Ljungby. Approximately 20,000 screening examinations are performed annually, in addition to around 650 biopsies guided by ultrasound and tomosynthesis.

Job Responsibilities

As a radiologist, your main tasks consist of image review, but patient examinations with ultrasound, fluoroscopy examinations, and various types of interventions are also part of the work. Within the mammography operation, the work includes diagnostics with mammography both within screening and for clinical questions, supplemented by ultrasound, MRI, and various types of biopsies.

This resident position gives you the opportunity to become a specialist in medical radiology while developing a specialized competence in the important area of breast diagnostics. The mammography-oriented resident position means that your service is initially distributed with approximately 50 percent within the radiology operation and 50 percent within the mammography section during the first four years. Thereafter, the distribution is adapted based on your individual educational needs.

Provided that the educational goals are achieved as planned, there is an opportunity for salary setting at the level of specialist doctors already after five years of service.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician and have completed your BT/AT (Basic Training/Internship), or alternatively are in the final stages of your AT or BT service. You have a genuine interest in imaging diagnostics, with a special focus on mammography, and are motivated to further develop within radiology.

You work in a structured and independent manner in your professional role, supported by experienced colleagues, and take active responsibility for your own competence development. You value collegial collaboration and have a clear ambition to deepen your knowledge within the specialty.

We place great importance on personal suitability and are looking for you with good cooperation skills, commitment, and a strong interest in development within radiology.
