Labour Market Coach with Focus on Workplace-Based Interventions

The Labour Market and Social Security Unit is entering an exciting phase where we strive to change and improve our working methods. We are working to create a future for the residents of Ale who are in need of our services, so that they can live an independent and meaningful life. Our overarching goal is to work towards every individual achieving an independent life with self-support. We are investing in strengthening our social work to better support and guide individuals on their journey towards independence by putting the individual at the center and adapting our support to each person's unique needs and conditions.

The unit is part of the Individual and Family Care department. All units collaborate closely to meet the needs of those we serve in the best possible way. The Labour Market and Social Security Unit handles five main areas: labour market, social security, integration, housing, and budget and debt counseling.

On July 1, 2026, the activity requirement within social security will come into force as part of the national benefit reform. In light of this, we are seeking two labour market coaches with a focus on supervising and coaching participants in workplaces. The work is carried out both in groups and individually as needed. Currently, the emphasis is on group activities. Over time, the role may change based on operational needs, which could involve more individual support and a return to a more traditional role as a labour market coach.

About the Position

As a labour market coach, you play a crucial role in implementing the activity requirement. You work primarily on-site at workplaces, where you supervise and coach participants in their daily work tasks. The work is based on the Supported Employment method, which means that support and supervision are provided in the real work environment to strengthen participants' opportunities for employment or education.

The role involves motivating and supporting individuals to strengthen their confidence in their own abilities. The goal of the work is for participants to approach or achieve paid employment or studies, thereby achieving self-support. The target group consists of job-seeking residents of Ale who need support in establishing themselves in the labor market, many of whom receive social security benefits from the municipality. Working in a municipal operation means working in a changing organization, where tasks may change based on operational and participant needs.

Responsibilities

The assignment involves preparing, coaching, and leading participants in activities, as well as matching job seekers with employers based on individual conditions and labor market needs by:

  • Supervising and coaching participants on-site at workplaces
  • Leading group activities within the framework of the activity requirement
  • Providing individually adapted support when needed
  • Collaborating with employers, colleagues, and other actors
  • Documenting, following up, and evaluating implemented measures

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in fields such as behavioral science, pedagogy, or equivalent experience. Experience in coaching, supervision, or leadership. Experience in workplace-based interventions is an advantage. Good ability to structure, document, and follow up on work. Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Supported Employment or Supported Training.

Personal Attributes

You are confident in both leading groups and working in individual-support roles, and have a coaching and solution-focused approach. You are flexible, responsible, and thrive in an operation where working methods and assignments may change over time.

We Offer

A meaningful job within a municipal operation linked to an important social reform. Opportunity to contribute to the development of new working methods. An operation characterized by collaboration, learning, and engagement. Collegial support in an organization under development.

Benefits

Ale Municipality owns cabins on Gullholmen that can be rented at favorable prices. We also offer flexible working hours and a wellness allowance.
