About the operationsWe are now looking for an Economist and Local Space Coordinator for the Upper Secondary and Adult Education Administration in Borås.
Within the Upper Secondary and Adult Education Administration, over 850 employees work to deliver high-quality education to the residents of Borås. In addition to four municipal upper secondary schools and an adapted upper secondary school, we also run adult education.
You will be based at the Education Office in Borås. Located at Olovsholmsgatan 32 in Borås, the Education Office consists of approximately 25 employees who work with the administration's support functions for processes within finance, quality and development, HR, IT, communication, admissions, and administration. It is a workplace where we value collaboration, utilize each other's competencies, and care about a good working environment.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs an Economist and Local Space Coordinator with us, you will have varied tasks with significant personal responsibility. Our operations cover approximately 10,000 students, over 900 employees, have a total cost scope of one billion SEK, and utilize over 100,000 square meters of premises. You will work with financial reporting and follow-up, as well as the administration's overarching local space coordination. You will have many contact areas both within the administration and in the city, and you will work consultatively with employees and managers through a supportive, knowledge-based, and proactive approach. The finance function at the Education Office consists of five employees who work with reporting, budgeting and budget follow-up, economic analyses, annual accounts, resource allocation, project reporting, issues relating to premises supply, investments, and resource efficiency, as well as other tasks occurring within the function. Your main areas of responsibility will be:
- Finance; support and service to the administration's operations in reporting, economic planning, analysis, and forecasting.
- Premises planning; both at a strategic level with long-term premises needs and premises efficiency, and at an operational level with premises planning, basis for premises adjustments/building projects and investments, as well as safety and sustainability issues related to the area.
Both assignments require the ability to overview and compile large amounts of information and to present summaries and analyses to colleagues and managers, both in writing and orally when necessary. The assignments also involve responsibility for developing routines and application guidelines within the area and ensuring these are communicated to the operations and that compliance is followed up. In addition, it may become relevant to support the Finance Manager with certain coordination and to prepare material for the administration's network of unit managers for support and service.
QualificationsWe expect you to have:
- a university degree with a focus on economics (preferably within public administration), or equivalent competence that we assess as comparable
- documented experience of work relevant to the position
- documented proficiency in Excel and other relevant systems (Raindance will be implemented in Borås City during autumn/winter).
It is important that you are very meticulous, analytical, and have high communicative competence, both orally and in writing. We would like you to have experience of, and understanding for, working in a politically governed organization. As a person, we believe you are open, self-initiating, and responsible. You will be part of one of the administration office's specialist and support functions, and it is important that you have a positive fundamental view of the administration's mission and see opportunities instead of getting stuck in problems. Since it is often work-intensive, good ability to be structured and focus on the right things is required.
