Role and Responsibilities
At ABB Electrification, we are looking for an engaged Bid Engineer to take on a key role in our organization to grow our business in relay protection applications! In this role, you will work with the sales organization and our customers, where you are responsible for determining the most technically suitable and cost-effective solutions for the modernization and maintenance of relay protection products and systems. You are responsible for developing technical solutions from inquiry documents to ready-made proposals in bids for our customers for the modernization of relay protection and systems. Together with project managers and designers, you package and support the project delivery so that it meets the agreed business, customer needs, current standards, and provides conditions for efficient execution.
We are looking for someone with experience from the electric power industry and specifically relay protection applications, who enjoys problem-solving, is responsible, and values structure and quality in deliveries. If you also have experience in electrical design or practical work with switchgear and relay protection products, such as a service technician or commissioning engineer, it is a merit. The position is preferably located in Västerås, but other locations will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- You take responsibility as a technical expert within your product area and support our service engineers as well as our customers with complex issues regarding relay protection applications.
- You act as a spokesperson to factories regarding local development and adaptation of the service offer for low-voltage applications.
- You create conditions to grow our volume and profitability by participating in product presentations and supporting the creation of, for example, marketing materials, product training, and price lists.
- You work independently but are part of a skilled team and have extensive contact with salespeople, customers, project managers, designers, and suppliers. You are engaged, meticulous, and enjoy working towards set goals and deadlines.
Your Background
- You have good technical knowledge in electric power, which you have acquired through long experience in similar roles or practical experience such as a service technician. A university degree in electrical engineering is an advantage.
- You have a good technical understanding of the structure of electrical systems and their products in medium voltage and relay protection.
- You have knowledge of principles and practices in Electrical Safety.
- You are service-oriented, cooperative, structured, and meticulous. You are an innovative person with a strong drive to arrive at quality solutions.
- You are relationship-building and have the ability to communicate clearly, both internally and to external parties.
- Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Since travel is part of the job, holding a valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
- It is an advantage if you have knowledge and experience of design in AutoCad, ElProCad, and/or elMaster, as well as previous experience in configuration, 61850 protocol, testing & commissioning, and troubleshooting.

About Us
ABB Electrification Service is a leading supplier of products and services for the aftermarket of electric power plants, primarily low and medium voltage switchgear. We strive to be close to our customers and are represented throughout Sweden – from Gällivare in the north to Malmö in the south. Our mission is to maximize availability, reliability, and predictability in electric power while helping our customers reduce their environmental impact. We cover the entire lifecycle of the facility from commissioning to replacement. At our company, you work independently but are part of a skilled team consisting of bid engineers, designers, and project managers within low and medium voltage switchgear. The rest of the organization consists of salespeople, service coordinators, contract managers, administrative staff, and our service engineers who help our customers on-site every day.
ABB Electrification Service has approximately 60 employees at ten locations across Sweden. We have a broad product range and help customers secure the availability of their installed base. Our customers are found in paper & pulp, steel plants, energy companies, electricity grid companies, water & wastewater, chemicals, and mining industries.
