Professional Teacher in Bus Mechanics – Adult Education
Do you want to help train the bus mechanics and technicians of the future? We are now looking for an engaged and knowledgeable professional teacher for our adult education program in vehicle technology with a focus on buses.

In collaboration with Yrkesgymnasiet, one of the leading upper secondary schools for apprenticeships and vocational programs, we offer a National Vocational Education (NY) starting this autumn. This is a new form of education in Sweden for adults who wish to train for a profession with a high demand for labor. The courses are developed in close collaboration with employers and the industry and lead to jobs.
We are now looking for a professional teacher in bus mechanics for our one-year vocational education program for Bus Mechanic/Technician. You will be part of the team at Yrkesgymnasiet in Ale.
About the Position
As a professional teacher, you are responsible for planning, conducting, and following up on teaching for adult students training to become bus mechanics. You work both theoretically and practically and play a key role in preparing participants for work in the industry.
Responsibilities
- The teaching includes among other things:
- Orientation to the bus industry, the professional role, and basic workshop safety
- Work environment, safe handling of hazardous waste, environmental requirements, and ISO procedures
- Communication, customer service, and digital documentation in workshop administration
- Construction, function, and maintenance work on heavy vehicle engines
- Use of digital diagnostic tools (e.g., Volvo Tech Tool, WABCO, CAN-bus)
- Diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of braking, steering, and suspension systems
- Electrical systems, components, high-voltage safety, and troubleshooting on hybrid and electric buses
- Coordination and follow-up of practical training (LIA) at industry companies
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
- Have professional experience as a bus or truck mechanic
- Have good knowledge of modern vehicle technology, including electric and hybrid systems
- Are accustomed to working with diagnostic tools and digital documentation
- Have pedagogical ability and preferably teacher training (meritorious but not a requirement)
- Have good collaboration skills and thrive in a supervisory role
Additional Qualifications
- Hold a driver's license with at least category B, and preferably category D (bus)
- Have worked professionally in the bus or heavy vehicle industry for at least a few years (approx. 3–5 years or more)
- Have current and relevant experience in servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy vehicles
