Freinet Preschool Bild and Form is looking for a preschool teacher starting Autumn 2026.

Are you looking for a fun and exciting preschool teacher position at a creative preschool with a truly good work climate? Are you the preschool teacher we are looking for in the fall of 2026?!

The preschool is located at Vegagatan 27-29, with the beautiful Slottskogen park and its surroundings as our closest neighbor.

We have four age-divided preschool departments as well as a preschool class. Two departments for children aged 1–3, one department with 4-year-olds, and one department with 5-year-olds.

We are a Freinet preschool, and creative learning processes permeate the entire operation, where we value the intrinsic worth of aesthetic subjects. Since Freinet's time, educators following in his footsteps have maintained core values regarding:

"A learning process that is meaningful, child-active, and exploratory, where children continuously have the opportunity to express themselves intellectually, aesthetically, and develop their democratic competence."

Freinet pedagogy is built on four central pillars that emphasize practical, investigative, and democratic learning:

  • Democratic UpbringingI can influence, I am needed, belonging.
  • Free ExpressionI am allowed to express who I am, what I feel, think, and perceive; self-esteem.
  • Tentative ExperimentationI am allowed to try things out, I am allowed to work from my own level, my work is good enough; self-confidence.
  • Authentic WorkI learn for my own sake, and I have important things to teach others; meaning.

Brief description of some of our focus areas:

Atelier: In our large atelier, we have an atelierista who guides the children in their exploration and expression. The children work in small groups to calmly work with, about, through, and in the materials.

To ensure the children focus on their own expression, a limited number of materials are used initially, which they become comfortable with as they grow accustomed to them and get older. Progressively, they are allowed to try different materials and working methods. The atelierista writes texts together with the children about what they want to tell and what they have done.

We also have smaller ateliers on each department with a rich supply of various materials where children work in small groups together with a teacher from the department. The teachers document together with the children what happens in the atelier. In the atelier work, children convey their experiences, thoughts, and knowledge, and are given space for imagination and own creation, allowing them to develop all their languages.

Every spring we hold a vernissage where parents and relatives are welcome to view the children's works.

The preschool has a dance teacher who leads dance sessions with children aged 5–6. Children express themselves with their bodies long before they can express themselves in other ways. Dance can convey experiences, thoughts, and knowledge, and provide space for imagination and own creative improvisation within safe frameworks. The younger children, aged 1–3, dance on their respective departments together with the teachers.

In addition to daily outdoor time, we have an excursion day per week where we are out for longer periods. The children have enthusiasm, engagement, energy, joy of discovery, curiosity, and a desire to learn. Being outdoors is good for health, appetite, sleep, gross and fine motor skills. We also want to give all our children the opportunity to take up space in the public sphere.

At the preschool, some teachers run a project together with the children called Bokashi and Gardening. Bokashi composting is a simple and smart way to recycle food waste and convert it into soil and fertilizer completely without chemicals. The children make planting pots in which they plant seeds and grow seedlings, which are then planted in large raised beds. At regular intervals, the children go to tend to the raised beds and harvest vegetables, which are then prepared at the preschool. Plant power fascinates with its originality and life, giving children perspective on things that do not yield results tomorrow and require care. From soil to table.

Qualifications:

We are looking for you who are a licensed preschool teacher. You have an inclusive mindset and are interested in working inspired by Freinet pedagogy. Through a conscious approach, you create safety, trust, and good relationships, and you have the ability to be a qualified conversation partner in pedagogical matters for colleagues, parents, and other involved parties.
