About Us

The Women's Clinic values and works for the reproductive and sexual health of the residents of Blekinge and has operations in all municipalities in the county.

At our midwife clinics and family centers, we provide pregnancy check-ups, abortion counseling/care, contraceptive counseling, parent education, cervical screening, early discharge clinics, and ultrasound clinics.

At the specialist clinic for pregnant women, childbirth, antenatal care, maternity wards (BB), and postnatal care, we take care of the pregnant woman, the birthing person, and the time after birth. The gynecological inpatient ward provides pre- and postoperative care as well as cancer care and abortion care.

The gynecological outpatient clinic handles gynecological issues such as dysplasia, endometriosis, pelvic floor problems, etc.

About the Educational Employment

You will be employed in a permanent full-time position as a nurse with a monthly salary during your midwifery education. The education consists of three full-time semesters with mandatory attendance.

You are entitled to contractual holiday and are expected to work clinically and contribute to the clinic's operations during the remaining part of the summer months on the ward.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and have been accepted into the midwifery program starting in the autumn semester of 2026. Three years of active, clinical experience as a nurse is meritorious. It is desirable that you have experience as a nurse in healthcare with technical tasks similar to working on a ward.

A midwife needs to have a personality characterized by empathy, security, and trust. The work involves meeting people during some of life's most intense and vulnerable moments, which places high demands on your emotional presence, good communication skills, and good decision-making ability.

A midwife needs to be able to put themselves in the individual's situation, understand anxiety, pain, and expectations, and meet this with respect and warmth. At the same time, calmness and stability that are contagious are required – especially in pressurized situations. The workload varies quickly, and the ability to handle acute events in a secure and proactive manner, with the ability to prioritize, communicate, and collaborate, is important. Patient safety plays a very central role in daily work, and we all have a responsibility to work on improving and developing the operations.

The midwife must be able to explain what is happening in a clear and pedagogical way, listen actively, and adapt their approach to the individual's needs and background. This also includes being able to handle different cultural perspectives and wishes.

Finally, personal maturity is fundamental, demonstrated by the ability to handle strong emotions, both one's own and others', as well as showing respect for the individual's integrity and self-determination.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Other Information

The practice-based studies will be conducted at several of the clinic's units across the county. One of these will then become your workplace.

After completing the education and obtaining licensure, you will be offered employment as a midwife at one of the Women's Clinic's units in the county. The clinic cannot state in advance which location or unit the employment will be offered at. This is decided based on where vacancies and needs exist upon completion of the education.

As an employee at the Women's Clinic, you accept that, in accordance with the Swedish Abortion Act 1974:595, you will perform and/or assist with abortion care and counseling.

To be eligible for the position, you must provide an extract from the criminal record.

Interviews will begin on a rolling basis.
