We are looking for a specialist with at least five years of subspecialization in upper gastrointestinal surgery. Job Responsibilities

The department performs upper gastrointestinal surgery, primarily concerning benign diseases. You will work with open surgery, conventional and robotic surgery, as well as endoscopy. The clinic has a large endoscopy unit where we perform, among other things, ERCP and EUS.

The department currently consists of eight consultants/specialists, and we continuously have several resident doctors (ST-läkare) placed at the department.

About the Workplace

The Surgical Clinic at Västmanland Hospital in Västerås serves a catchment area of approximately 280,000 people and is divided into three departments: Upper GI, Lower GI, and Breast/Plastic/Endocrine. The clinic employs 30 specialists and approximately 11 resident doctors.

Over 30 junior doctors (AT-läkare) are trained annually, and we provide teaching for medical students. We frequently receive praise for the pleasant atmosphere and collegiality at the clinic, and we have a renowned good educational environment.

Over 50% of our specialists have defended their doctoral theses. Extensive research projects are conducted locally as well as in national and international collaboration. If you are interested in research, there are excellent opportunities for this. We collaborate with the Centre for Clinical Research, which is part of the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University.

Västerås is a city that has developed significantly over the last few decades. Qualifications

You are a specialist doctor in surgery with at least five years of subspecialization in upper gastrointestinal surgery. Your focus should be in at least one of the following areas: ERCP, Obesity Surgery, or Minimally Invasive Hernia Surgery.

We see that you are a stable and secure person who takes responsibility in your work and enjoys collaborating in teams with other professions. You have a respectful approach when meeting patients, relatives, and colleagues. In the role of a doctor, you will lead and supervise colleagues; therefore, we require that you are clear in your communication, mindful of being understood, and that you understand what others are trying to say to you. We have high demands on personal qualities.

Employment Terms

Permanent position, full-time.

Daytime hours with on-call duties.

Start date as agreed.
