About the workplace

At our adapted primary school, there are approximately 65 students in grades 1–9. Our operations are expanding and we need more colleagues.

We have students studying both according to subjects and subject areas. At the adapted primary school, several professional groups work together, such as student assistants/recreation staff, special education teachers, and special needs pedagogues.

Together, we work to ensure that the students' entire school day is secure, with a focus on the educational mission.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you with a great interest in people and the ability to build good relationships. As a student assistant in adapted primary school, you work, during school hours and leisure time, based on each student's individual development and prerequisites. The students have a high care need and require support in various situations throughout the entire combined school day. You carry out and develop the students' education together with the work team, and you are responsible together with colleagues for the planning and work at the after-school center.

The work is physically demanding and includes elements of care. As staff at the adapted primary school, you are expected to be outdoors daily, participate in activities such as forest walks, floor games, as well as swimming and bathing in the pool. You are involved in the student's ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and need to be able to use lifts, various physical aids, and tube feeding.

Qualifications

We see that you have experience working with students who need AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and have the ability to interpret social interactions and signals from the students. Furthermore, we see that you are an adult role model, and are secure and trust-building with a professional and low-affective approach.

You have completed upper secondary education with a focus on children and leisure or care and nursing, or other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent. We would like you to have experience working with TAKK (Accessible Augmentative and Alternative Communication). It is meritorious if you have taken the student assistant course and you should have experience working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

You have a great interest in people and the ability to build good relationships. You are flexible, solution-oriented, and sensitive to the students' individual prerequisites. It is required that you are calm and pedagogical with great patience and the ability to create security for each student. You need to have clarity in your actions. Experience working at an after-school center is meritorious.
