Job Description

As a Sprinkler Designer at AFRY, you will work on the design of sprinkler systems in varied and often technically complex assignments. The role can be adapted to your experience and drive – from an independent designer/handling officer to a project manager with greater responsibility for customer relations, economics, and the overall project.

You will work with everything from calculations, technical descriptions, and drawings to coordination in multidisciplinary projects. For those who have – or wish to take – a project management responsibility, there is an opportunity to lead the design, plan resources, monitor economics, and ensure quality towards the customer.

Our assignments range from small to large projects, with a focus on hospital and operationally critical environments. You will collaborate closely with colleagues locally in Malmö as well as having access to a national network of sprinkler designers within the organization. The work is primarily office-based, combined with customer and design meetings.

Qualifications

To succeed and thrive in the role of Sprinkler Designer at AFRY, we see that you have a solid technical foundation and several years of experience in sprinkler design. You are confident in regulations and working methods and are accustomed to working independently in design assignments – either as a handling officer/senior designer or in a project management role.

We consider the following as basic requirements for the position:

• At least 5 years of experience in sprinkler design
• Good knowledge of current regulations and standards such as SBF, NFPA, FM, and the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning (Boverket) building regulations
• Experience with design in MagiCad, AutoCAD, and/or Revit
• Relevant technical education, e.g., HVAC Engineer, Fire Protection Engineer, or equivalent work experience
• Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
• Experience coordinating sprinkler issues in multidisciplinary projects

Additionally, we would appreciate if you have one or more of the following:

• BIV certification or equivalent
• Experience in the role of project manager, or ambition to take that step
• Experience from larger or technically complex projects, e.g., in hospital or operationally critical environments
• Experience with inspection, verification, or operational issues related to sprinkler systems
