About the job
If you are driven by a job with multiple contact points and have maritime experience, you now have the opportunity to work as a Ship Inspector in the section for national maritime supervision at the Swedish Transport Administration (Transportstyrelsen). In this role, you will exercise supervision of safety, the environment, and working conditions on ships and shipping companies. Other tasks related to the unit's area of responsibility may also occur.
The work as a Ship Inspector for national vessels is highly outward-facing and involves extensive contact with the maritime and shipyard industries. Domestic travel is common.

You will
- inspect and survey ships
- review drawings and technical documentation
- perform new build/refit and entry-in-service surveys
- perform risk-based and incident-driven supervision.
You must have
- a completed upper secondary education with final grades
- experience from working on deck or in the engine room on board ships, or other experience from shipping companies, shipyards, or boat building that we assess as equivalent
- good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English
- a category B driver's license.
It is meritorious if you also have
- experience from technical inspection work on ships at shipyards/refits/new builds
- experience from the technical department of a shipping company
- experience from case management/administration within a government agency.

More information
The position is permanent with placement in Gothenburg. Appointment according to agreement. We normally apply a probationary period. As an employee here, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. It is the needs of the business and the nature of the tasks that determine if and to what extent this is possible. A position with us may involve security classification. A security investigation with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in security classification, Swedish citizenship is required.
