Do you want to increase our visibility and strengthen our voice in the public debate?

The Swedish Association for Intellectual Disability (FUB) works to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities can live a good life with full participation in society. Our issues are highly relevant and our input is sought in many different contexts. Therefore, we are now strengthening our secretariat with a press secretary who wants to develop our presence in the media and contribute to ensuring our perspectives gain traction.

As a press secretary, you will become a key person in our interest-based political work and contribute both operationally and strategically to how we are seen and heard. You will also have a central role in developing our press work and shaping our communication strategy.

Main Responsibilities

• Drive both strategic and operational press and communication work in close collaboration with colleagues
• Contribute to the development of communication strategies and communication plans
• Handle, distribute, and follow up on media inquiries, as well as build and develop relationships with journalists and editorial offices
• Work proactively with environmental scanning to identify news situations and initiate own campaigns and media contexts
• Write press releases, opinion articles, and update the website and social media with relevant content
• Actively pitch spokespeople and subject matter issues to the media
• Develop working methods that strengthen our visibility in the media 

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have experience working as a press secretary or similar in an opinion-forming organization. You are accustomed to working operationally with the media and express yourself very well in both speech and writing in Swedish. You also have experience adapting and formulating texts for different target groups, with a secure sense of tone and message. We envision that you have a relevant university degree. If you also have knowledge of FUB's issues and human rights, we consider it meritorious. The same applies if you have worked with statistics and analysis of press and communication efforts or have an established network within the media.

We are looking for you who are collaborative, receptive, and confident in your communication. You are proactive and self-starting, take initiative, and drive the work forward in a structured and efficient manner. At the same time, you are innovative and solution-oriented, with a focus on opportunities and concrete results.

The position is full-time, starts with a six-month probationary period, and is based at our federation secretariat on Södermalm, with the possibility of hybrid work a few days per week.

Our long-term goal is that people with intellectual disabilities should have the same rights and opportunities for participation in society as others. We have just over 25,000 members in more than 150 local associations throughout the country. Approximately 20 people work at the secretariat on Södermalm.
