Friday is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Strategic Buyer specializing in cabling, electrical boxes, components, etc., for a leading automotive company. Our client supports various parts of the organization with procurement, and this role falls under direct material procurement. You will be part of an international team of 12 people. In this position, you will act as a business partner, working with strategic procurement while also serving as a specialist in the field. You will become an important part of the procurement business control function, where your role will also involve supporting and challenging buyers within the business during discussions and negotiations regarding raw materials with suppliers.

Main responsibilities include:

• Support buyers within the business area in designing/negotiating terms/agreements for raw materials with suppliers in accordance with procurement guidelines.
• Support/challenge buyers in negotiations to address requests for price increases for raw materials outside of existing agreements.
• Understand the economic factors affecting raw material availability and price volatility.
• Use internal and external sources to analyze various reports/data on the steel market (flat steel and cast iron), primarily in Europe but also in the USA, Brazil, and India.
• Support the purchasing organization in transitioning from manual processes to automated workflows using tools available within the organization.

• Have a post-secondary education in procurement, economics, or a similar field.
• Have several years of work experience in procurement within the steel industry and a understanding of the market.
• Are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, as the language is used internally.

This is a consulting assignment, meaning you will initially be employed by Friday with the ambition of being hired directly by the client.
