Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing change.

SiS Youth Home Johannisberg operates in Kalix and Boden (unit Sävastgården).

Job Description

SiS Youth Home Johannisberg in Kalix is looking for treatment assistants for night-time hourly positions for those who want to support change in a young person's life.

SiS Youth Home Johannisberg is a high-security institution beautifully located next to the Kalix River, adjacent to the quiet residential area of Grytnäs. The institution is in a phase of development and expansion, with ongoing work on increased staffing and security. Our target group in Kalix consists of boys aged 16-21 placed under the Act on Closed Youth Care and the Act on Care of Young People. All our work is permeated by our key words: Respect, Care, and Clarity. Even as an hourly substitute, you are offered a thorough introduction with supervision and further training in areas such as security, unauthorized influence, conflict management, CPR, and more.

As a treatment assistant, you work in a team on the ward together with competent colleagues who are waiting for you to become part of the team. Daily work involves building safe relationships and motivating our young people towards new and less risky ways of living. You play a vital role in the stability of our young people and provide the foundation for daily life, including school attendance, activities, cooking, and cleaning. As a treatment assistant, you also contribute to maintaining security at the institution according to our guidelines and routines.

As an hourly substitute, you work when needs arise. You register your availability in our staffing system, Netwic, and are booked based on your availability. In this way, you create the flexibility you need between work and leisure. We are looking for someone who specifically can work night shifts as an hourly substitute. Working as an hourly substitute at SiS provides valuable experience and knowledge for those studying to become social pedagogues or pursuing other post-secondary education focused on psychology, sociology, or pedagogy. Therefore, we encourage students to take the opportunity to apply for hourly positions with us!

Greetings from your future colleagues:

"Welcome to join us. Here at Johannisberg, you will meet fantastic colleagues who all work together to make a difference in the lives of young people, both here and now and for the future. As a treatment assistant, I have the opportunity to learn new things every day, both in meetings with the young people and with society at large. There is a sense of security in that we always work in pairs, thereby building a strong community within the work group and on the wards."

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has the ability to build trusting relationships with our young people. You have a positive view of people, and your drive is to work with young people. You share our ethical guidelines (https://www.stat-inst.se/var-verksamhet/riktlinje-for-etik/) and see us as a place for change. As a person, you relate to others in a listening and flexible manner, while also being able to set boundaries and follow decisions made. You are secure, stable, and have the ability to maintain a professional attitude even in pressured situations. You work well with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You must also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.*
  • Good proficiency in Swedish (spoken and written)
  • Good physical fitness

*Exceptions to the requirement of at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468). To make an exception, a high school diploma and relevant work experience are required. Please attach high school grades and/or certificates of post-secondary education to your application. Certificates issued in other countries must be translated and validated in Sweden via the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).

Merits:

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, for example, within correctional services, psychiatry, care and support, or equivalent
  • Category B driver's license
