About the Position

Hello! Are you our new teacher at one of Gällivare Municipality's primary schools? As a teacher in Gällivare Municipality's primary schools, we can offer you meaningful and varied work with excellent opportunities for development.

Gällivare Municipality has a total of 9 primary schools, both in the town center and in the villages in the countryside. In addition to fully qualified teachers, Gällivare Municipality's primary schools also employ lead teachers, special education needs coordinators, special needs teachers, school counselors, school nurses, class mentors, student assistants, and resource personnel. In grades 1-6, there are class mentors at our schools, and in the town center, there are school wardens in grades 7-9. When you start a new position as a teacher in Gällivare Municipality, you are offered guidance from an experienced teacher for one year. Your mentor will serve as a support in your new role.

Responsibilities

As a teacher, you work with education. You prepare, plan, conduct, and evaluate students' progress and your own teaching based on the curriculum. You work in close collaboration with guardians. Most of the educators also work as responsible mentors for a class.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a teaching degree and certification. We also welcome applications from those who are about to graduate or have started their teacher education for primary school! You should be responsible and have clear leadership in the classroom, as well as an ability to build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Commitment, solution-focus, flexibility, innovation, interest in and ability to collaborate are qualities that Gällivare Municipality's primary school values. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In accordance with the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

An extract from the police criminal record is a requirement and must be presented before employment.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time or part-time based on your preferences. We offer summer jobs or holiday positions.
