Company Description
In Sweden, Vattenfall Värme delivers district heating, district cooling, and steam to industries, property owners, and residential customers across fifteen municipalities. We provide sustainable heating to approximately 200,000 Swedish households as well as heat, cooling, and steam to industrial customers. We actively work according to a clear plan to reduce fossil emissions in our cities, our own heat production, and from our suppliers, with the goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2040. We are particularly proud that our main product, district heating, plays such a vital role in the energy transition and the new circular society.
About the Role
Do you want to work as an engineer in a central and strategic function? We are currently seeking a structured and analytical individual who wants to help build the future of sustainable heat supply.
As an Investigation Engineer in the Distribution Planning & Optimization group, you will investigate and prioritize reinvestments in our 10 district heating networks as well as our cooling and steam networks. With your analytical skills and technical expertise, you will determine which parts of our networks should be replaced in accordance with the long-term replacement planning. Acting as the "Spider in the Web" on the distribution department, you will maintain extensive dialogue with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure we prioritize the right projects and select the best technical solutions. Through standards, knowledge exchange, and technical documentation, you will stay updated on the best technologies and how to handle various issues.
You will be part of the Planning & Optimization group, which consists of 8 employees and a manager.
In this role, you will, among other things:
- Plan replacement investments in district heating networks in collaboration with colleagues. You will gather information, analyze, and prioritize pipeline sections that need to be replaced.
- Be responsible for ordering replacement investments and pipeline relocations to our project organization.
- Develop or update technical instructions for technology selection and work methods.
- Act as technical support for your colleagues.
- Investigate various technical issues related to district heating distribution.
- Participate in industry forums and Energiföretagens working groups.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, we look for someone who is structured and analytical. Collaboration is of utmost importance, and you must be confident in making decisions regarding recommendations for projects that you can subsequently argue for.
We prefer that you:
- Are a Master of Science in Engineering, Engineer, or have equivalent education, preferably in energy, mechanical engineering, or similar. Knowledge in business economics is an advantage.
- Have experience with, for example, district heating distribution, HVAC, or similar industrial operations.
- It is a merit if you have worked as a project manager, designer, or constructor for district heating networks.
- Have good technical and economic understanding.
- Communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
