Department of Heart and Lung Diseases
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events within a strong community of colleagues. Welcome to apply!
Our Operations
Welcome to our heart section, which provides highly specialized care in arrhythmia, heart failure, and ischemia.
Our department of heart and lung diseases includes cardiology and pulmonology, clinical physiology, and thoracic surgery. Heart care within our department is conducted on two wards. There is significant development and research taking place within our department, which is exciting to be part of.
On our inpatient ward 50G, we provide highly specialized care in arrhythmia, heart failure, and ischemia. Here, we care for, treat, examine, and investigate acutely ill heart patients around the clock. Patients arrive with conditions such as heart attacks, cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failure. We have a fast track, the STEMI track, for patients with acute heart attacks, where we maintain contact with ambulances that send ECGs to us for assessment.
On ward 50F, we have our day care unit, open day and evening from Monday to Friday, where we perform scheduled procedures for our heart patients. This means patients are called to the ward from home and undergo their treatment or examination during the day; occasionally, they are admitted to inpatient care.
Your Assignment
As a nurse with us, you will be part of our wonderful team! You will have the opportunity to contribute your nursing knowledge and work with medical technology. We have high ceilings and are committed to supporting and helping each other. You will work together with assistant nurses in teams within a care unit. Our patients often require cardiac monitoring. We have two care units with a higher level of care where patients can be monitored with arterial lines, receive advanced medical treatment, as well as treatment with NIV (Non-invasive ventilation).
Your Qualifications
You are welcome to work with us whether you are a newly graduated nurse or an experienced nurse.
Your Competence
We want you to be motivated and responsible in your work and to enjoy a high and varying work pace. We want you to have good collaboration skills and a desire to contribute to a good working environment. Well-being is important, and we value personal suitability highly in the recruitment process.
We Offer
We offer a permanent position with a start date to be agreed upon. When starting as a new nurse with us, you will receive six weeks of induction and theoretical training, including instruction in relevant subjects related to heart care. We have specially trained nurses responsible for our training program who provide clinical mentoring to new employees.
If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be enrolled in KUÅ (Clinical Development Year), a hospital-wide program covering 20% of working hours. KUÅ preferably starts the term after induction is completed.
With us, there are many paths to choose from when you feel ready for the next step. There may be opportunities for rotational assignments to other units within our exciting department.
With us, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
