Our Operations

Oncology Ward 101 B is an inpatient ward providing care 24/7, 365 days a year. Here, patients with various types of tumor diseases are treated, with common diagnoses including breast cancer, head and neck tumors, sarcoma, and gastrointestinal cancers.

Patients are admitted to the ward when their investigation, treatment, or illness requires inpatient care. This may involve treatments such as cytostatics/antibody therapy and various forms of radiation therapy, or when patients suffer from infections, pain, or nutritional issues. We have both emergency and elective admissions, and patient stays range from a few days to several weeks. We maintain close collaboration with other wards and clinics within our department.

Our operations are in constant development, both in medical care and in our working methods on the ward. We love to develop and continuously improve! We work long-term with health-promoting measures in our workplace and are proud to have been recognized for this, even receiving the award for "Workplace of the Year for Health Promotion" in 2021.

Your Assignment

As a nurse in oncology, you are a vital part of the highly specialized care surrounding our patients. Together with a nursing assistant, you are responsible for a care team where you can focus on nursing tasks. We are a technology-intensive ward, and you will perform everything from routine nursing duties to more specialized tasks such as managing central lines, infection treatments, chemotherapy, pain pumps, etc.

You will work closely with the medical team and other professions involved in the patient's care team. With us, you have excellent opportunities for professional development, whether you are a new or experienced nurse.

The ward has an education nurse who supports your competence development. Additionally, we have a discharge coordinator responsible for overseeing and coordinating the discharge process, giving you more time with patients.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse. Experience in oncology or hematology is an asset but not a requirement.

You are a reliable person who maintains calm and focus regardless of the situation. You see opportunities and adapt easily to changing circumstances. You take initiative and plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently. You enjoy close collaboration with your colleagues and strive for a positive atmosphere in the work group. Furthermore, you always keep the patient in focus and see the big picture. You think strategically, long-term, and have a broad perspective.

We Offer

We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date to be agreed upon. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. There is an opportunity for night rotation after discussion with the manager.

Additionally, we offer:

  • Individualized introduction based on previous experience.
  • Frequent check-ins with your immediate manager and education nurse.
  • Clinical mentoring with an experienced colleague for new nurses.
  • Further education within our competence development program, the Cancer Care Academy, for one year.
  • Opportunities to apply for paid specialist education after the Cancer Care Academy.
  • High frequency of training in pathology, nursing care, and treatments.
  • Patient-free days for working on your area of responsibility and relevant training.

With us, you get benefits that make a difference. Read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
